I have found there to be huge range in how much creators give their Patreon patrons. Some people do nothing, some people go to a great deal of effort. And it's somewhat difficult to know before you sign up. (and then there is the guilt of dropping someone.)
Who on Patreon do you feel you get good value from supporting?
Do people still support Patreon after their power trip de-platforming entertaining creators?
I’m not wealthy enough to be giving my money to other people. Maybe once I’m healthy enough to work full time, can afford a reliable ute and own a property suitable for wildlife rehabilitation I might think about that kind of thing. Although, I can’t imagine any “creator” can offer anything I would find good value.
Why would you feel guilty for canceling a subscription if you’re not being offered anything of value? The job of these people is to entertain you, if you had a tv streaming service subscription that never had new content you’d cancel that, wouldn’t you?
I wasn't getting good value from the darknet diaries podcast, because the ad free feed would never load when an episode just came out, you'd have to wait a day or else listen to the one with ads. The only other benefit was being able to be on a patreon only channel on the discord server and that wasn't worth 3 odd dollars a month. Switched to supporting 3blue1brown which is much better - you get to see videos early and give feedback on drafts. The creator actually replies to people and cares about their input. And you get a 50% discount off his shop.
