For those like me that dragged their heels or found reasons not to, this is almost identical to, but cheaper than the UGREEN Switch deals here (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/598993, https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/587404 & https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/572631)

It's also less expensive than the UGREEN USB 2 version.

A couple of points to note
* included USB 3 A to A cables are only about 1 metre long, as opposed to 1.5 for the UGREEN
* An amazon reviewer noted this won't switch to input 2 if the computer isn't on, whereas the UGREEN USB 2 one can. Not sure if this is a USB 3 vs USB 2 thing or or a point of difference between the two USB 3 products as well. Maybe someone who bought the UGREEN one can comment.

I've been happy with UGREEN products in the past but for the price, quite happy to try this brand out. Probably the same internals anyway :)

  • Keen to hear opinions since i dont have both..

"this won't switch to input 2 if the computer isn't on" isnt it a good thing? Meaning no need to switch to the active system (less step) since the other system is off anyway?

    • Unless you turn on the other system through mouse or keyboard input, I guess

      • +1

I have an avocent USB switcher (same functionality as these) and USB wake from sleep doesn’t work if you change between the inputs. Only works if you stick with one input.

If you switch between them when PC is off it won’t recognise the devices on the USB switch until you wake the computer from sleep (ie with the power button).

        • I have found the exact same thing. I think the USB host will only recognise devices which were plugged in while the PC was on. I have to press the power button to bring it out of sleep if I switch between USB hosts.

I use this exact model daily.

    Things to note:

    • The blue light is a bit bright. It can be a nuisance if you sleep in the same room
    • The switch button is somewhat inconveniently placed BEHIND the unit. Which means you have to reach over a few more cms. Doesn't seem like much, but I find myself looking at uGreen's version with the button on top in envy.
    • It will usually automatically switch over to the PC that has just powered on. Can get annoying when you are just wanting to turn on a PC whilst still using the other. Otherwise, if both PCs are off, this auto-switch works well to choose the active connection.
    • Very fast switching, no issues at all there.

Blue tack the blue lights. I remember my old sound system, the subwoofer was obnoxiously bright.

  • I have been using this one for 4 months now and haven't had any issues.
    I paid only $18.99 though.

    • Does it do any kind of emulation or does the device disconnect from one and reconnect to the other each time you switch/

  • switches like this (and the ugreen)
there is port saying power 5v at the back. do we really need to power this hub? or it is depending on what we put on the outputs? (the 4 ports).

    • It is depending on what you put on the outputs. Use 5V USB Power Adapter for powering to ensure better performance of the high power consumption devices.
