Bulk Wine Deals (24+ bottles)

Does anyone have good suggestions for an affordable way to buy an assortment of bulk wine? Or even better a deal?

We have a large display cabinet we need to fill up in our house and probably need 24-36 bottles.

  • So, not fussed about the quality of the wine?
If not, just go to Dan Murphys and choose the cheapest bottles with the labels, bottle shape, etc. that you like the look of.

    • Well ideally we plan to drink them, so looking for a bulk deal with some consistency in terms of quality.

Bulk buying stores is pretty much the method we've been using for filling it up our rack so far.

        Ok.
A really tough question, as everyone has a different palate / likes / dislikes. Even the recommendations on here will probably not be an ideal match to your own preferences.

Find a local wine shop (or Dan Murphy / Vintage Cellars) and visit when they are doing their tastings. Be open to them about your budget and what you like (and more importantly, what you don't like) and let them make suggestions. You will probably want to buy a bottle of a few different options to try at home and then make your decisions.
Most places offer discounts for 6-bottle or 12-bottle purchases, so factor that in.

My experience with cellar doors (online and virtual) - you will never get a 'bargain' from those outlets.

If you want adventure, start buying from online auction sites (Grays) and take your chances.

  • What did the wineries say when you called them?

    grays auction's.

  • If you know what you like, vinomofo.com. They sell by cases only.

If you need to buy various bottles to work out what you like, Dan Murphys

  • I agree with trying the wineries but I’m not sure who is doing what, at the moment. In the past we’ve had good deals from Dromana Estate, the barrel haul sales from Giant Steps/Innocent Bystander, the IPA in Rutherglen tends to be cheaper than the wineries. If you are willing to go for the cleanskins you can get even better deals.
