Anyone Had Any Luck Getting a Refund from Jetstar?

Hi all,

I'm booked to fly to Brisbane and back via Jetstar next weekend, however I need to come back a day earlier than originally planned. Jetstar want $155 to change my flight, meaning it's cheaper to rebook with another airline.

Has anyone had any luck recently with getting a refund from Jetstar? If so, what excuse did you use?

Obviously airlines are airlines and they have a reputation for having a deathgrip on your cash, but I just can't stomach the idea of paying for a product or service and not being able to be refunded if life happens and you can't make your booking.

Thanks in advance.

If you buy a saver ticket you agree to the terms and conditions of that ticket

Refunds on fare and Jetstar add-ons
Non-refundable, except in certain circumstances including under the Australian Consumer Law, your local law or Conditions of Carriage or if you have purchased FareCredit.

That's a pain. Was worth asking the question anyway.

Feels wrong that they can get away with tat sort of thing.

If you want a flexible ticket they do sell one with full flexibility, part of the conditions of the cheap ticket is that they are non refundable
I agree with you 100% but yeah sadly this has always been the case with the cheap tickets

They told you upfront though when you bought the cheaper tickets….

How dare they uphold the terms and conditions you agreed to at time of purchase!

  • I did get a credit refund, but damned if i know what to do with all the credit i have AND already had (got some flights as xmas presents)

  • Unfortunately, Jetstar doesn't have a flying flexible policy waiver anymore like Qantas, and the only way to avoid change fees is to purchase a bundle with the fare. Looks like you're out of luck :(

You can cancel a non refundable and get your taxes + fuel surcharge back as per here: Pointhacks link $50 admin fee, taken from your refund though.
