Sports Tape Wholesalers Australia - Your Experience?

I'm wondering if anyone has had an experience with Sports Tape Wholesalers Australia (https://www.sportstapewholesalers.com.au/shop/) and can vouch for quality of the product?

I'm looking at bulk buying some rigid sports tape after I witnessed 2 fractured ankles in 2 days at volleyball (time to get serious about taping my ankle!)

They seem legitimate enough and as an NFP I want to support them - I just need to hear someone say the tape's good :)

From years of experience (25+ in volleyball), any sports tape is good as long as:
    1) you know how to tape the limb
    2) use some "save skin" tape underneath -> https://www.sportstrap.com.au/sportstrap-foam-underwrap-tapeā€¦

    • save skin tape………..are you telling me for years I've been walking around with a hairy shin and shaved knees and ankles like some kind of freak for nothing?

      • LOL

well, maybe you started a stylish trend?

    • Ha, I wish this was true.

As a health professional who relies on tape it can be a huge hit and miss, I can see where OP is coming from.

Main issues are glue quality, zinc oxide content and general manufacture problems.

There is nothing worse than a deformed roll that glues to itself, refuses to unroll and completely destroys the skin.

      • Yep, this is probably my main concern! I just used a deformed roll glued to itself yesterday and although it did the job, it was a pain to unravel.

    • Cheers Dag, appreciate the advice. I'm good on both these counts.

  • Fixomull works under the tape too.

  • Had elbow burisitis for about 4 months late last year, when i switched to Rock tape, definitely helped

    • Rocktape is not a rigid sports tape. It's not what OP is after.

  • I can't help regarding your question OP, but buy 1 roll and try it out.

Post covid our supplier has some very questionable quality stock when it comes to sports tape.

May I suggest a visit to a Podiatrist to screen any potential concerns?

Check for hypermobility, weakness or lack of propreoception. You could potentially address your concerns through structured footwear or a simple ankle guard that could be applied before training and playing. You might also benefit from learning about taping technique and perhaps if rigid is that way to go for you. Some people may benefit from kinesiology/rocktape instead.

    • Appreciate the advice HerpinDerp. I've been the Physio about my ankle and he taught me how to tape w/rigid tape - essentially rolled it a few times and tore ligaments (luckily never fractured).

I no longer play futsal and haven't rolled my ankle in maybe 2-3 years, but after seeing two fractures this weekend, I've decided not to tempt fate any further ….
