American Express Offers Using Apple Pay

Hi all.

I was just wondering whether Apple Pay version of my Amex card is eligible for Amex offers?

I got the Amex Platinum 400 spend on Coles/Deliveroo but it did not seem to trigger the offer email after the spend was posted to my account.

On the offer terms, there is usually the following clause:

Excludes transactions made through a third party establishment or payment processor.

I assume this applies to Afterpay/PayPal, not Apple Pay?

Has anyone had luck with Amex posting an adjustment in instances where the offer didn’t get applied automatically?

Yes. Digital wallets like Apple Pay are fine as you're still paying the merchant directly. The merchant appears on your statement. I rarely use the physical card and have had no issues with my Amex Offers working.

With PayPal, you're paying PayPal who is paying the merchant. PayPal appears on your statement.

  Thanks. I was just told on Amex live chat that Apple Pay is a third party processor and deemed ineligible. I’ll keep asking.

    Can I use Amex Offers using Apple Pay, Samsung Pay or Android Pay?
    Yes, provided the participating location accepts contactless payments. You still need to enrol your Card and pay using the same enrolled Card on your mobile wallet

      I am in an unpaid cashback dispute with AMEX on an offer that I paid with Samsung Pay.
      I was just told on Amex live chat that Samsung Pay is a third party processor and deemed ineligible too.
