King C Gillette Double Edge Razor + 5 DE Blades $21 @ Coles

50

$9 off King C Gillette new Double Edge Razor, and also includes 5 Blades.

This makes it a great intro to Double Edge shaving.

10 of these DE Blades are expensive at $14, but there are much better deals around like Astra, Derby, Lord, where you can buy 100 packs of blades for $20 on Amazon or ebay

Im not at any coles so how can I tell? Lol, online unavailable.

These are still crazy expensive for DE blades.

    • They sure are, its like they have some hype on the price, and why its best getting other blades like Astra or even Feather or Merker which are still cheaper than these King C Gillette.

Its still a good entry level price for a quality Razor Handle, that gets good reviews.

    • I have 200 or so derby blades not to mention sample packs won't run out anytime soon

Isnt it great? I also have a number of different blades like 100 packs of Derby, Bluebird, Wilkinson Sword, Astra, Polsilver, Nacet, oClock. The blades also last a long time so will last a few decades. The dollar shave club is laughable, when you look at DE.

Had a sample of the dollar shave club and the handle broke on the first razor.
Gillette is about 5 years too late to the de market, went de due to the price of their replacement heads.

@DaTa: Gillette is already in the DE market, Astra, Pilsilver, oClock, Silver BLue, and many others are Gillette blades. These Russian Gillette blades are often a very high price at retailers that also sell modern razors like supermarkets and the shaver shop.

          • @DaTa: gillette invented the DE razor …..problem is patents run out, others entered the market e.g schick with cheaper blades so they moved to proprietary cartridge razors …. still have my old gillette butterfly opening razor opening made of nickel plated brass, DE is popular with the cost conscious shaver and will probably never be mainstream again in developed western countries

        • Astra Platinum 👌

  • GeoFatBoy gave it decent review https://youtu.be/giEZev84qxg

And users on r/Wetshaving seem happy with it.

Might give it a try see who it compares with the Muhle I use.

    • Did you give it a try? I was looking for reviews myself compared to 34C

      • +1

I only grabbed one in the last price drop at $18 and have been using it for couple weeks now, been rather happy with it.
It's feels nice and solid in the hand, actually weighs 101g my Muhle r89 is 66g, the handle is also slightly longer though some may prefer a shorter handle, no nicks or rash bumps from using it. Head on both is similar just couple small differences, might be close to the 34c head?
Gives a mild shave, the included blades even feel slightly sharper on the 2nd shave though not sure I'd buy more at the current price.

You may find a comparison on the Badger and Blade forums https://www.badgerandblade.com/forum/forums/double-edged-raz…

Thank you very much for the reply. I really appreciate the info and the link

  • pity it’s a 3 piece razor, i rather liked the aldi butterfly opening razor, think it was a schick, easier for getting blades in or out.
