I really am not sure what i am doing wrong, but i have had my kia cerato sport for about 2 months. All this while, the fog lights turn on when the car turns on. I never thought anything of it until my neighbour mentioned it. Now i have read the manual and have seen the switch, but it just doesnt turn off the fog lights. Has anyone had an experience with this? Any resolution?

Are you referring to the DRL? It looks like a fog light on the lower trim level Cerato's
Since you have one of the lower grades (I think base and Sport), then it is Daytime Running Lamps (DRL) and you cannot turn them off.
I don't think it's the fog lights, rather it's probably the Daytime Running Lights (DRL) which usually can't be turned off.
edit : this one?
Are you referring to the lights on the front of your car? These fog lights are actually day time running lights (DRLs). When the car turns on, they come on. Most cars have LED DRLs but yours has standard bulbs.
Yes those ones. Thank you very much.
seen the switch
Same in my BD Sport +.
If you are referring to the small round lights they ARE fog lights, not DRL like people are trying to tell you.
From memory, I'm not near my car ATM.
The switch is on the RHS stalk.
What you have to do to switch on/off the front fog lights is push the switch up for on, the switch centralises itself, and then up again for off.
For the rear fog lights push down for on, the switch centralises itself, then push down again for off.
Stupid setup.
I'm not sure why people are talking about DRLs… You're completely right here. The fog lights are separate round lights below the DRLs, that have a switch on the stalk
I have Cerato GT and mine are LED DLR, if yours is not a GT model then the FOG lights act as DLR (I have a GT and GF has a Cerato Sport and this is what the Dealer told her).
How bright are they?
On my "not a Kia" the fog lights have 2 modes.
1) DRLs. The body control module commands less voltage to the 55w bulbs to make them 18w equivalents which makes them legal as DRLs.
2) Foglights. When "fog light" is selected normal voltage is fed to the 55w bulbs.
My MY19 KIA Cerato sport + has DRLs. They can be turned off by using the parking brake. Otherwise they are on all the time. Not sure if on when headlights are on. Check it against the garage wall.
The fleet Cerato I had at work once had these lights turned on all the time, assuming it's the same ones.
Turning the fog lights on/off didn't make any difference - just the dash telltale seemed to change?
Exactly!
When your lights are on, what light is displayed on the dash ?

Just checking what you are calling fog lights are in fact fog lights? or can you show what you mean on a picture of the front of your car?
