Is there a fetish for Victorinox knives I'm not aware of?

Think of it as eneloops, in a knife…

Fetish, hell yeah. I have a dozen of these in my cutlery drawer. The Fishermen on deadliest catch use them too and they call them vicky's.

Not at this price there isn't.Other than that these are quality knives.

    Weren't these cheaper previously?

Got one, absolutely loved it and then got a second. Highly recommended

  • Thanks mate, but too expensive. Was $6 - $6.50 for other colours previously for slightly smaller blade, on previous deals. I needed more orange ones with a non-wavy blade.

So I checked - and the orange ones are currently $6-$6.50… so I bought some more.

I bought the green version of this one when on sale recently. They're great.
Thanks just bought some orange and yellow ones as those are the two colours on sale now.
This model 6.7706 has a slightly larger blade than the 6.7601 version and I think it's better.

Delayed delivery, but worth the wait.

  • Has anyone ever seen these? They were called feathertouch in the 70's. My mum still has one and I got one from a pop up in woolies about 10 years ago but now they have black handles. Good knife for everything.

  • These are $7.95 at Victoria's Basement, and in all the colours too! [down from 12.95]

    Yellow

    Black

    Cheers

    Edit - typo

  • I have about half of dozen of these knifes. Used it for steak…but because its to good sometimes I used it for cutting vegies

I get the red ones. Itโ€™s a warning youโ€™re about to slice half your hand off.

These are $6.00 @ Peters of Kensington. Standard post is $5.00 whether or not you buy 1 knife or dozen plus.

Saw these in store. Nothing special and they look cheaply made.

      • +2

Obviously never used them. Theyโ€™re unreal. Very sharp and and great value!

      • Hey AEC, I bought 1/2 dozen about 4 years ago and have used every day for preparing food, buttering toast, cutting cheese (great cheese cutter), cutting meat, roasts, etc… and they're still damn sharp. Best knives I've ever used. They are NOT cheaply made either.

  • These seem more expensive than the previous serrated one's listed, so not the cheapest. Vouch that you may lose part of your finger if you do take care. You'll only do it once. Amazing how much blood comes out. Good little knife for tomatoes or bread rolls.

      Thanks for posting!

these things are deadly sharp. Sliced off part of my finger the other day while cutting an apple. I asked my 5 year old to get me a bandaid, and his response was "woah, that looks really really bad"

This is not a bargain by any stetch of the imagination.

  • I was in a Vietnamese supermarket the other day (Minh Phat, Victoria St Richmond, Vic) and they had a huge range of Kiwi brand knives at similar prices to these. I frankly know nothing about knives, but I've read chef bloggers who say they basically never sharpen their knives, they just buy the Kiwi ones, use them until they get blunt, and then toss them.

My personal strategy was to buy expensive Furi knives, and be dissatisfied with them for the next two decades, so I may eventually switch to the "buy them and toss them" method.

    • Kiwi knives are razor sharp and quite easy to sharpen due to their soft metal. Great value

These victorinox knives seem to keep their sharpness for longer, but would be hard/impossible to sharpen?

    • I used to drive a BMW which I meticulously looked after, getting it serviced and repaired as necessary. Then I started buying Kias which I just drive until they stop then taxi to the dealership and buy another.

You need to follow better chef bloggers.

      • No, no, tell me more about the Kia plan.
