So my Dell laptop's microphone has gone missing :(
Doesn't get detected when using Zoom or other apps.
Tried a couple tricks I saw online, but it just seems to be gone completely.
Any suggestions please?
Thanks

This, but also good luck….
I had a similar issue with my work issue Dell, except my problem was that my headset mic wasn't detected only the webcam mic was recognised.
I found that if I booted with headphones plugged in, my headset mic would work, but if I pulled the headset even after fully booting it would immediately lose it.
It could be worth trying to see if this also resolves your (presumably reverse) issue.
I eventually had a Dell technician replace my motherboard with no success.
His advice (even before performing the replacement) was that I would need a full Windows re-install or a USB audio adapter!
It could be linked to this, as I often connect bluetooth earphones…
Thanks, this worked. No idea how the driver got removed… use this daily.
Thanks again
Did you try calling out its name?
Tried this also
Also put up posters around the neighbourhood, the mic might just be going through a phase
That never works. No-one rang me about my missing goldfish :(
Have you gone to Device Manager and see if it's showing there?
Yes, it doesn't show there
You've already searched for drivers that suit your model laptop and tried installing them?
Try steps in this link - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/fix-microphone-p…
Or alternatively, use Windows built-in troubleshooting in Settings -> Update & Security -> Troubleshoot
Pretty sure I've run into this before. Mic was disabled under the Windows Privacy settings. Once I clicked the toggle switch, it showed up.
Reinstall the driver.
