Country of origin?
Vietnam
… and therein lies the problem.
Potentially rice grown in fields cleared out by Agent Orange in the Vietnam war.
The years have passed, so now the question - is it safe?
For me I think I will stick with Australian or Thai grown for now.who wants to live forever?
the world's a terrible place to live now.@trident2010: No problems. You certainly have the right to make your choice.
Where did you get your brain washed from? The us used agent orange almost exclusively on mountainous jungle to expose guerrilla track, there was no point using it on rice paddies
@pencilman: Yeah, that article focused on the long term impact the people from Vietnam suffer, it's doesn't necessarily means those chemicals make all the way to your risotto, because the region affeected have very low productivity and I doubt people living around there have enough rice to feed themselves let alone exporting (and probably not worth growing rice at all). It's a bit of a stretch to make such assumption, juat like eating food microwaved plastic containers will give you cancer.
Vietnam
Packaging like Thai.
yeah weird
pass
Is pretty good.
Needs a good rinse to remove excess starch, but that's pretty much universal.
Needs a good rinse to remove excess starch
Always rinse.
Coles brand rice is pretty good…
link?
How does this compare with Sunlong’s Jasmine( ie 5kg sold from coles or ww)?
Pretty similar to the "SunRice" jasmine imho.
I've never done a side-by-side test but want to say this one has a bit more flavour. That's likely confirmation bias though…
whats confirmbias
If you are done stocking up toilet papers
Why, in Melbourne, would anyone be stocking up on TP ?
That was so last year…
I bought it a few weeks ago and don't like the taste. it is even worse then Sunrice Jasmine Rice (feel more sticky). I won't buy it again.
The hom mali (golden wheel) from woolies taste much better, the 10kg bag is selling for $24 but they've gone down to $20.
linky
The best jasmine rice are in 5kg bags and grown in Thailand.
