Wanna play Battle field 3, Diablo 3 if it can….lol

  • there is not a lot of info on the power supply, if you want the computer to last 5 years like your old one buy something like a Antec 530 watt

    good info here http://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/rmp_sg_whirlpoolpcs

  • Change that motherboard to this:

    ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3
It's cheaper, better and supports both SLi and Crossfire. You save $50 bucks and it's a better deal.

You won't want a slimline tower if that's a gaming rig. Makes it difficult to upgrade later on.
Get a CoolerMaster 690 ADV II instead.

I'm going to be in the same position myself in 6 months so might make a few queries here as well so I've got some pondering time….

duwang - you note that HDD not required, but would it be worth the cost v performance improvement to try and squeeze an SSD in? Say 60Gb SATA3 for $106? http://www.umart.com.au/pro/products_listnew.phtml?id=10&id2…

Or for this price point is it not worth the cost?

At this price point a SSD isn't worth it, unless it's going to be a cost that you'll budget above everything else.
And in six month's time there's going to be new CPUs and GPUs, so the ballgame is going to change. You get newer and better products for the same price, or if you want what you can get now it'll be much cheaper.

With computer parts you can never really plan 6 months in advance unless you're looking to buy what is going to come out in 6 months, but with that you never know costs, only an estimate price.

  • Thanks all of you, I am going to buy these

    CPU: Intel Core i5 2500K $230
    Mobo: Asrock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 $135
    RAM: 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3-1333 $39
    GPU: 1GB AMD Radeon HD6870 $169
    Case: Antec 100 $69
PSU: Antec Neo Eco 520C $69 (BYO power cord)
    ODD: DVD burner $22

      Much better.

    • looking good.. like the case too (minimalistic, cheap, but very usable)
let us know how it handles bf3.. fps/setting wise.

  • …It's really hard to get all the parts from only one shop…even MSY, I need to travel their auburn, hurstville and ultimo to get all the parts…

    • Their Auburn shop is close to PCDIY (Bell Tower complex). They have fairly competitive prices too.

Eddie(Fluidtek @ Carlingford) also may have what you want, although he is a bit cocky.

  • thanks for your info. save me patrol and time…lol

  • Just check PCDIY online store…dont have Asrock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 & Case: Antec 100

  • keep in mind oem software.. like windows 7 64bit for about $100.

once you get all these parts you may lose the opportunity to buy oem.

    just a reminder.

(*dunno, maybe you need hdd anyway to get oem)
