Too much Oyster, not enough Panda.

Depending on where in the world you are, but with COVID some places can be called hell.

        Thanks Gordon

Seriously mate, do you just sit there refreshing the new deals page to troll? You're always one of the first few to comment and never add much value.

I actually prefer the Lee Kum Kee Premium Oyster Sauce (the one with the boat and 2 ladies). It is less salty and has a nicer flavor.

    • Same this ones too salty.

He'll grow up to be a lady, so 1/2 points.

              La-la-la-la Lola

        • the boat and 2 ladies

I guess this is better than 2 ladies, 1….

    • +7

Premium is made with higher percentage of oysters.. Something like 40% vs the 11% in panda

    • +6

      2 ladies 1 boat? (๏ 。๏)

Edit: Just googled it. That's a kid lol.

      • So, little lady in the boat?

        • +1

          Or yuuuuuuugeee oysters.

    • I have not tried Premium, might be worth a shot when they are on sales X)

      • Just buy it. You won't go back

    • Also cheaper at Woolies than at most Asian groceries for some reason. $6.30 vs $8-9 (NSW)

    • +2

The small bottle of premium oyster sauce is the best. Just don't buy the large bottle with more water/salt you're going to regret it.

    • +1

The premium is my go to oyster sauce. Can't remember seeing on a discount however and I discovered not all woolies sell it, $6.30(~500g) last I got it, in need of more soon though.

    • I actually prefer the Lee Kum Kee Premium Oyster Sauce

      Since 1888

    • +5

Check the Oyster Extract %. The LKK Premium Oyster Sauce you refer to has 40% oyster extract and it's the ONLY one I use to marinate pork chops. The one in this post only have 11% oyster extract so the flavour is meh!…

      • +1

you should just buy some oysters next time, chuck them in a blender then marinate the pork in that.

    • +1

We keep both in the house. This panda one for cooking and the premium one for finishing and dipping

  • My name is Lee. The name of this product makes me feel like I'm being accused of animal abuse.

    • +3

Lps stands for Lee's panda sauce?

  • I find this brand of Oyster Sauce quite nice with more Oyster Extractives (11%) than some other brands.

  • +1

With the recent soy and oyster sauce discussions. I too like this brand of oyster sauce. What about hoisen sauce? Anyone?

    • +5

      What about hoisen sauce?

I prefer Hoisin sauce when I'm feeling naughty…

      • When are you not feeling naughty?

      • What do you use the sauce for?

    • Now now, OP did say no political discussions.

  • +1

We always get Megachef premium oyster sauce https://www.myasiangrocer.com.au/megachef-premium-oyster-sau…

    • +1

      Have you tried this one?

      • That would probably take a couple of years to get through at home

    • Same..better flavor than 1 boat 2 girls Lee Kum Kee Oyster Sauce. Megachef has a nice slight smokey flavor to it and I think it got higher oyster % than 1 boat 2 girls LKK.

    • +2

      Does it actually matter though?

Pretty much EVERYTHING you buy can have parts of it traced back to a factory in China, even if it says "Made in Australia" or "Made in <insert anywhere else other than China>".
Even in vegetables, as the pesticides and chemicals parts of it likely came from China.
And if you are eating organic, then the earthworms within the soil may have the origin from China.

White good and electronics, almost guaranteed that materials used is made in China and as China supplies 85 percent of the world's rare earth oxides and approximately 90 percent of rare earth metals, alloys, and permanent magnets.

To people who care about supporting private vs state owned enterprise, especially when that state has concentration camps, yeah sure it matters, why not.

        • +3

You better stop buying anything then and go off the grid as the electricity you are using is likely using Chinese Parts also.

          • -1

@lplau: there's a difference between something made in China vs OWNED by the Chinese government.

    • -1

Fair enough question. Lee Kum Kee appears to be a private owned company, rather than state owned.

    • +1

      who cares?

    • +1

What make you so high? oyster or panda?

    • +2

Hong Kong citizens? I see the stupidity there.

  • -3

I love using some Lee Kee Kum

    • The Kum was too late (better than too early, I guess. Kum Lee Kee sounds ridiculous).

  • just here to help, not to promote political arguments.

Who argues about sauce? Fountain tomato sauce is the best tomato sauce and everyone knows that.

  • +1

What's the politics with kums sauce?

  • +2

Chang's Oyster Sauce is 36% oyster extract.
On special at Woolworths at the moment.

    Any good?

  • The worst Oyster sauce I have ever got was the Coles brand , it tasted like molasses come sugar . Had to throw it out.

  • +1

I've never been able to taste the oyster flavour in oyster sauce.

    • +1

That's a shame. I use it on chips , fish , in soups , stir frys etc , its my go to sauce.

      • +1

You just pour it on chips?

  • +1

This is worst oyster sauce ever

    The premium one is better

  • Everyone commenting on the premium and 40%… The oyster sauce in my fridge contains only 30% oyster extract :(
Could that be the reason it has less carbs?

  • +1

The Heyday golden label oyster sauce has 39% oyster extract and they’re always cheaper than Lee Kum Kee @ woolies. Product of china not Hong Kong if that matters..

    • -2

Could contain anything inside if it is Made in China.

      • Check the news they added something gross in the food. It was on the news the offenders were sentenced to death.

        Edit: Not LKK brand.

    • Isnt Hong Kong a city in China?

      • -1

        Inevitably

      • So is Taiwan, just ask World Health Organisation

  • -2

Lees Kumming through with the bargains lately, whats wrong with it?

  • +2

    Some of these comments geez

    • Are you trying a Fargo impression?

  • Flavour Enhancer 621 = MSG. Just in case someone is allergic to it.

    • "MSG is King of Flavour!" (Uncle Roger, 2020)

  • Do you keep it in the fridge once opened?

    • +2

      Yes

    • Once you pop you can't stop!

  • Too much Panda not enough Oyster
