Tyre for small sedan

I have a Honda Civic Sedan mainly driven around suburbs. Could someone recommend a place for inexpensive and reliable tyres please? I don't really know anything about tyres, is a well-known brand (e.g. Yokohama, Bridgestone) worth the price difference compared to a no-name brand?

Thanks

  • kmart tyre and auto would be your best bet but go when there are sales for the brand of tyres you want. they have dunlop, bridgestone and good year - all reliable brands.

edit: yes don't get a no-name brand, tyres are paramount to your safety when driving in wet weather and you cant put a price on safety.

  • Kmart is good, also you might want to call Bob jane, they often have specials. Usually the "cheapest" deals are on the 13" rims so it depends on the age of the Civic

Both will sell only tyres that are reliable. But like all brands there will be a difference. and it can be a trade off in tyre life vs tyre stopping distance. While NOT completely accurate, a contributing factor is that the softer tyres will stop better - more grip while they will wear out faster.

Go here to see how to check what your tyre size is

You are looking for the inner rim size

  • Thank you, simon84 and ozpete, for your informative posts. :) I will have a look at kmart and bob jane then.
