Best Times of Year to Buy a New TV?

Hi all

Unfortunately the black Friday deals aren't until November again

Our Sharp TV, which is 10 years old, is starting to show colour fade up the top and bottom. We have been looking to upgrade for a while anyway

It's not too bad right now and definitely nothing urgent. It doesn't warrant going out and buying a new one right now either

Would be looking at getting a brand name 65 inch replacement when we do

Are the best times to buy generally end of financial year and now Black Friday/ cyber Monday now? The Black Friday being the best of the year expected?

Hopefully we can wait until then.

Thanks

early in the year isn't a bad time with older models discounted for new ones - if you wait for a good deal to come around. you have to ask yourself whether 5-10% of the price is worth it for waiting 6-12 months, and you'll never get the lowest price so if you find something you like for a good price just go for it

With sharp price increases since convid last March, I suspect prices will fall a lot more than 5-10% as stock becomes increasingly plentiful & outstrips demand.

We are actually approaching the best time to buy a TV as the clearances for the 2020 models will start coming up in Feb and last until March. As April begins, 2020 stock dries up and 2021 TVs are sold at mostly RRP until September or so.

Unless you plan on living forever, then half a year represents a fairly good percentage of your remaining life. Do you really want to spend that half year looking at your broken Sharp just to save a few bucks?

  • Surprised you aren’t squawking about ACL after 10 years like so many on here

  • Best get a run out model, is when a newer model arrives and the older model needs to be cleared.

  • Get an LG CX 65" OLED.

  • Thanks everyone!

  • tv prices for OLED have a huge disparity between the USA vs Australia. I know we are a smaller market and we have different taxes and import cost.. but they are massive disparity between Oled and Qled prices in Australia. Samsung Q80 go around the same price in the USA and Australia when converted. LG are almost 50% more expensive in Australia than usa.
