Lowest price I've seen for this new on here, beating the pre-order price of $1099 in late August, I believe.
I think there was a boxing day price of ~$998 that was gone in a flash…

Nice, still running the RX-V3800 here. Too good to replace. :)

Good price, usually around $1299 I think. But I'm waiting till the HDMI 2.1 bugs are fixed before I purchase any new reciever.

  • I'm getting a 4k setup later in year but random question, this doesn't do dolby vision so I would do a hdmi cable from 4k player straight to tv and then another hdmi cable for audio out blu ray to this receiver correct?

    • +1

Dolby Vision is on the spec sheet.

  • Wow. The back is sparse. I wonder if we'll end up at d class amps in the future. The market wasn't interested before, but i think it's inevitable.

This is Yamaha entry level RX-V series.
The top of the line RX-A (Avantage) series should land sometime this year. The back panel will be chock-a-block on those one's.

      • I'm probably overlooking something big here, but I cannot for the life of me figure out what the difference is between the RX-V6A and the RX-A2A, other than the look and the price.

          Remote (IR) Input/Output
          Detachable Power Cord
          A.R.T. Wedge

Not much, but apparently the remote is nicer on the A2A as well.

          • @noise36: I just use the app with my v673! Stopped using the remote a very long time ago!

        • +8

Detachable power cord, higher tolerance capacitors in the amp section of the board, 5th leg (A.R.T. wedge) and 3 year warranty instead of 2 year.

It's the age old debate (is RX-V same as RX-A). Basicly the RX-A is marketed to audiophiles that spend crazy money on upgrade power cables and speaker wire to get the extra 0.1% out of their system and lose sleep about these things.

Before you other crazy audiophiles downvote me, I'm on my 4th Aventage amp. It takes one to know one haha 😄

@MeagerDollarBucks: Zone 2 and phono input for the A2A, which might be important for some.

Thing I can't clearly make out is if either/both Australian models of V6A and A2A come with DAB+ tuner.

Pioneer have had receivers with class D amps for many years, Onkyo also have some out now with class D amps probably not surprising considering that Onkyo own Pioneer AV, Yamaha seem to be sticking with class AB in their receivers and stereo amps they do have class D in other products.

    • Glad to see the useless analogue video inputs gone

Useless clutter in a 2.1 receiver.

  • Is this model has the feature/ability to stream/listen to the Internet radio stations ?, if not, can someone recommend any av receivers with Internet radio feature.

  • +1

If only it had 2 outputs…

    • Two real outputs (4k60 simultaneous, even if the image is cloned) would be great. Sadly that's more tech than anyone is willing to pack into one unit.

      • I've got it in my rxv1071..
The sony that goes on special here often has it as well

        • HDR 4k60fps?

I have two outputs on my denon x3400h and it's so half assed it might as well only have one output. Ps4 pro can't even detect things as 4k through it.

          • @justtoreply: nah mine is only 1080p which is why i'm looking out for a couple of new ones…

would have expected more from the denon though… maybe it has an issue?

Good price for a good receiver.

Just note that the HDMI 2.1 feature set firmware hasn't arrived yet, supposed to be coming in the next 3-6 months. In the meantime you just plug your XBOX/PS5 into the TV and use eARC to send sound to the receiver.

There is also an industry wide issue with HDMI 2.1 chip sets effecting all companies , its unknown at this point how Yamaha will deal with it. i.e. will it be a non issue sorted with the firmware release or will it require a service of the unit to switch out some hardware.

  • May I ask that I have these speakers
Pioneer 5.1 Channel Home Theatre Speaker Pack by Andrew Jones FS52PACK

Is it worth getting a better amp than the rx-v6a or these speakers will be the bottleneck? Thank you for your opinion.

    • I think the "bottleneck" will be more your TV. You only need to upgrade to this receiver if you have a 8K TV or 4K120fps. And devices to take advatange of this like the latest PC graphics card with HDMI 2.1 or XBOX Series X/S or Playstation 5.

      • Maybe I rephrase. I currently have a 4K tv and Yamaha rxv679(no Dolby atmos) and want to upgrade to to get Atmos.

So apart from atmos I wanted to know what grade of amp is a good match for these pioneer speakers. Thanks.

  • Is it just me, or does it look horribly ugly? (legitimate question - I think the lack of symmetry throws me)

  • may I ask the expert some advice, what is a good match and reasonable speaker and woofer for this receiver? and what is the good setup for this? plug all the xbox and pc to the tv and use eArc to send the audio or just plug every device into this receiver too? my tv only has 3 HDMI. thank you

I usually recommend looking for secondhand gear, every component in my current system I purchased second hand, have a look on gumtree, ebay, facebook marketplace in your area and see whats available. If your willing to buy secondhand you can get some great bargains

      • I got the best score a few years ago full 7.2 set of speakers including receiver for $1100, the front speakers are worth nearly $2000 alone
