  • This seems like a good deal if RRP is to be believed.

It it not to be believed.

Never believe Kogan RRP prices. Their products are only worth their sale prices. Sometimes you can use pricehipster to spot patterns when then go on sale

Bought 3 as Christmas gifts. The 2 that are in use both have issues with keystrokes being ignored. Definitely wouldn't buy again

Everyone that I know who bought this have had keys stop working after a couple of months. Much better of saving a bit more to get a better keyboard.

      • Mine works fine (had it for over a year) without any keystroke issue, but bloody hell is it loud.

Replaced recently with a Razor Blackwidow Elite with orange switches, which is much better (much more expensive too).

      • "Much better of saving a bit more to get a better keyboard"

This is most of Ozbargain summed up.
Cheapo products sold at full (cheap) price.
Mostly you're better off buying a better quality item at a higher price.

Bargain actually means a product obtained at a big discount.

      • I was using the keyboard yesterday and my Windows key wasn't working. Unplugged, replugged with no change. Turns out Fn+Win key disables the key, and it remembers the setting even after a power cycle.

  • I have a brown switch that I bought last time but prefer something clicker, anyone want to buy me one of these and I will send you my brown? It's brand new

    • Haha love it. I actually did the opposite. Got the Blues and felt they were SUPER clicky so I sold them and bought browns instead.
Over a year and no issues. Love this super budget but good-enough keyboard.

I've got razer greens sitting in my storage coz they're not office appropriate :p

      • Is it blue > brown > red if going from click to not click? Cos the browns aren't ckicky at all to me, but I am coking from an old school IBM keyboard with the buckling springs

        • Browns are what they call tactile, non-clicky one that has a bump on the leg that causes a tactile response. A lot of "enthusiasts" dislike tactility on Cherry MX Brown (and its clones), because it is very small.

That said, compared to IBM Model M and buckling springs, a lot, if not most, modern keyboards would be pale in comparison. At least that's what I have heard.

I am sure there was a Model M keyboard you can get from USA (unicomp, I think their name was). And there was a company that was trying to bring back Model F…

          • @iridiumstem: Yeah Linux tech tips did a video on unicomp, pretty sure you got that right.

Yeah back in the day the Honeywell keyboards were popular due to their tactility, but I think they were membrane keyboards l, just decent ones. When I got the brown kogan it was less tactile than the old Honeywell membrane keyboard so I was a bit disappointed

            • @Jackson: I will put a disclaimer that I have not gotten myself that into vintage keyboards scene nor had anything that could be considered a "vintage". I just am a nerd who recently got bit of a fondness for keyboards.

It might be better if you look at say, Kailh Box Navy if you are looking for something that's tactile. Though, I don't know of any keyboards that come with Box Navies, so it might require you to do some messing around with a soldering iron.

Yeah man, I'll take that deal, I'll shoot you a pm

  • Got a blue switch one in melb to give away free if anyone wants it. the row between Shift <> Shift is defective though with the LED remaining lit on red when the pc is off

    • Heya, just saw this comment. Does the left shift work? If it does, I’m interested in picking it up.

      • yeah mate all the switches work

  • using this from a previous deal. certain keys have started to stick. a keycap even fell off mid type yesterday. you get what you pay for. that being said the price is awesome

I'm abusive with my brown switch model.
    Had almost 2 years now.

No issues other than LEDs failing to other colours; don't care, I don't like Rgb, just need backlighting.

  • Not happy…it was supposed to be a pre-sale with shipping 2 Feb 2021. The latest update is it will ship 2 Mar 2021…
