  • My lord what has happened to the price of "kids bikes" these days?!?

Shopping for a 10yo a few months ago and the sales attendants take you straight over to the $600-$800 bikes as if it's nothing.

    Unbelievable!

    • +1

Different to when we were kids hey! $600-$800 must be for big kids though, not little kids I'm guessing? In our retail store (not online) our kids bikes start from around $200. Which is still more than a k-mart special of course and not cheap like they used to be. Small sized adult bikes for older kids do normally start around the $500 mark.

The bikes advertised above are BMX bikes not general kids bikes though - may sound like I'm being pedantic as the difference but I don't meant to be… generally the higher priced BMX bikes that are getting up towards the $1k mark are more aimed at either adults or older teenagers who ride BMX and give them a thrashing at the skate park etc.

  • I need to replace the chain for a Trek MT220, would both KMC Z7 and Z8.3 suitable for this bike?

    • +1

The Z7 is the one you want by the look of it, this comes in two versions, Silver or Rustbuster.

I'm not really up with Trek models as it's not a brand we sell, but a quick online search seems to indicate that they have a Shimano Tourney 7 speed system, so the Z7 would be the one you need, Z8.3 is for 8 speed. Some chains models will cover 6/7/8 with the same chain, some are seperate, if seperate best to stick with what it says on the box.
