Anyone use these? My phone keeps overheating as my mount is on my dash which gets no air flow.

Been thinking about grabbing one of these for a while now. Is the charging any good?

    • Anyone use these?

      Reviews are worrying…

      35% are 1 star…

      • Saw that myself, seems the air vent clip is brittle and could break any time between a week and a few months.

Credit to my current mount where it's due, I've had it for two and a half years with no issues bar the overheating.

Get what you pay for I guess.

what kind do you have now?

@jv: Haven't a clue, bought it for $25 on the corner of Pitt and Hunter street from a street vendor.

    • This is same reason why I am also looking for a holder to go on dashboard or windscreen.
Let me know if you find any good deal around.

    • I've personally got the older one which seems to work flawlessly for my iPhone XS despite also being on my dash. Haven't tried this specific model yet though

Ideally use your phone without a case if you're mounting it on your dash and wireless charging at the same time to allow it to cool a little bit.

      • I'll give it a crack, Amazon seems to think I'll get it tomorrow. I'll post some thoughts and return it if it's no good.

My main concern is the durability of the air vent clip. Fingers crossed it's relatively sturdy.

        • Run fan/aircon when in use

          • @MuddyClear: That's the entire reason I'm getting it. Getting overheating issues with my current one sitting between my dash and windscreen.

            • @RetroGameNerd: Honestly don’t waste your money on this particular one. The clip is of poor quality and will break prematurely.

              • @MuddyClear: I bought it however the clip doesn't fit my air con vent. I drive a Subaru BRZ and the horizontal part of the vent goes deeper than the clip can. Will be returning.

    • If you have Amazon prime (I do) then the product page will clearly show that you can get free shipping, even with just 1. If you don't have prime then you will have to spend over $39 on Amazon, so if you did buy this you could go ahead and buy something else you do need from the entire site.

My personal experience is that these are crap. After a short time the clip that fits your vents spreads apart and cannot be straightened (probably due to weak spring or heat) and end result is phone and cradle unexpectedly dropping from the vent. Lucky I have a good phone case. If you have thinner blades on your vents it might not be an issue. Have used two in my Aurion and both had the same problem.

    • Any recommendations on a good clip on over air vents in car?

  • Cheap POS. I bought one of these a couple of months ago and it died after a few weeks. Really poor quality.

I've used this exact same one. Worked fine over the last 4 months, but the clip for the air vent is really poor quality, sending the mount and phone flying whenever I made a tight turn.

I'd recommend buying a better quality mount instead.

    • Well there you have it folks…no deal

Can't make a recommendation on this one. But a small tip I have from other cheap ones I've bought in the past. I use a bit of 3m double sided tape and jammed it into the air vent and then put the clip over that. Found the tape helps holding it on with a weak clamp.
