Can you no longer order free paper maps from RACQ online?
Update: Is this why? Is it just temporary? https://www.afr.com/companies/transport/after-toilet-paper-a…

Unless you're specifically on a retro road trip without phones or GPS or any tech whatsoever then why in this day and age do you need paper maps?
some people just prefer them i guess.
one reason i like them is being able to see a large area close up and further away quickly and easily instead of having to zoom out or scroll around on a relatively small screen.
it's also easy to make notes.
also you don't have to worry about running out of charge. or an emp i guess.
that racq guy thinks it's psychological. people finding comfort in things from their past or escaping technology.
old maps have a historical value. they can also be worth some mulah.
don't you ever get sick of the digital world?
i like to be able to hold things in my hands and smell them.

This lots. Specially offroad.

what kind of things ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Love those retro road trips. Find unsealed roads, EK Holden, or equivalent Ford/Chrysler, no air-con, and a couple of kids in the back with the "Are we there yet?" sound track on loop.
Could be useful if phone battery 0% or no phone/data signal area.
I love paper maps, but there are dozens of phone apps that don't need reception to navigate FYI ;)

That's what she said.
Checks calendar.
Yep. Definitely not 1998.
