[NSW, QLD, VIC] 4x Frozen Meals for $12- $14 Pickup (or + $15 Melbourne Delivery) @ Gate Gourmet

520

I got an email from these guys today, seems crazy cheap for what look like some pretty decent meals. They seem to only be in Melbourne, Sydney & Brisbane atm & delivery is limited to within 25km of locations. But if you live pretty close to one might be a great option.
They also have 7 meals for $27 which seems to be their normal pricing.
I'm gonna give them a go, I'll let you know what the meals are like once I've tried them.

My wife discovered these meals during lockdown and to be honest we have gone back for more several times. They are on the smaller size portion-wise, so I would recommend a bread roll to go along with it or a piece of fruit.

I suggest heating up two sorts and then walking down your hallways asking 'chicken or beef' to your family.

  • Unfortunately no option for Adelaide. Good find though!

We got them mid last year, when they were $2.50 per meal. Overall the meals were pretty good quality and taste. None of the processed and filled with preservatives taste I find with lean cuisine and other similar pre packed meals.
Portions are on the small size. I thought at $2.50 they were ok value for when you are in a a pinch for a quick meal. At $4 a meal it’s worth a try, but in my opinion not a “bargain” at this price

        Cheers for the reply!

  • How can this be a bargain when 7-11 sells similar things things similar price

  • I bought a fair few boxes back when they first did the sales and ended throwing about half of them out around Christmas. (I bought them thinking they would be good for a cheap work lunch but then the work from home orders happened.)

Taste is very average, but edible. Issue was that there really isn't alot of variety and I just couldn't bring myself to eat them after awhile. I think of the 50-60 boxes I bought, about half of them were mango chicken rice, and the rest sorted into 2 other options (I think i had chinese brocolli and rice, and mi goreng - both were protein light even though I ordered the meat option). There was no choice about what you get, they package it for you and you get whatever choices they gave. On the website they list all the possible options making it seem like you get variety, but unless you're getting them in different weeks, you're gonna get heaps of duplicates like I did.

I think it was around $3 per box back then, so this current deal seems more expensive too.

    • Yes be very careful as this was an attempt to get rid of old food that didn't go on the planes. We purchased our meals, they were given to us in a white bin bag then to realise it was expiring in 3 day's.

Considering the price I would rather go to somewhere else that costs the same or less and get something that won't expire in less than 6 month's.

Seriously frozen food means long shelf life. I would hate to experience their fresh food as it could probably be as low as 3 hours shelf life

  • Hi everyone please check the expiry dates.
Some has less than a week's shelf life on them.
Why sell frozen meals that's meant to have long shelf life when you can't keep them in your freezer

    • If it's frozen it will be ok for months. Maybe they also supply their meals fresh for another company which is why they have that date on them
