Posted Tasks Never Got Assigned, Done under The Radar?

I am relatively new to airtasker due to recent scarce "real" job opportunities. so far I have completed 4 tasks after submitting numerous offers. I have noticed that many popular tasks with lots of discussions eventually just lapsed without getting assigned.

I am wondering if the posters somehow made contact with the candidate off airtasker?

It's understandable that airtasker charges a bit too much on both parties because it can only make money from the first contact. after that no one will transact on airtasker.

I have seen some posters leaving their phone number or altered email address in the post. it's obviously against the rules. but can they make contact by going to the profile and ask for a "quote" for like $5 so they can exchange contact?

    From what i've seen, you can only ask people to quote on a job you've posted.

    I've been wondering though, could I post a job for $10 or something so the ridiculous Airtasker fee is low for the tasker, and then do something like state that additional charges can be discussed privately once assigned?
