Does USB 3.0 to SATA HDD Docking Station come with power supply?

I previously bought this Orico dual drive external docking bay for $45 and seems to be good. I like that it has a sliding switch for PC or duplicating because I have a fear of pressing the duplicate button while trying to read important data off two drives.

Can't comment about the devices above as slightly different but price looks good.

    What coupon?

Edit: coupon shows up sometimes, sometimes it doesn't. When it did, it said i was not eligile, except for the USB hub

"Sorry. You are not eligible for this coupon."

    • Nor am I, I could really use this device too.

      • Do you have Amazon Prime?

It shows the coupon for me

        • I have prime and it got the same massage

        • Yeah I have prime, first time I clicked the link I saw the coupon but got that message. Now when I click it I don't see a coupon.

  • I have an older model and these are super useful if you fiddle with PCs regularly. Its very handy to be able to manipulate drives, format, backup, clone etc. without having to mess around inside your case.
Just need one now that takes M2 and NVMe drives.

  • Hey @PC Peripherals Deals

What's your suggestion for a good external NVMe drive?

My partner has a Macbook Pro with TB3 ports. I don't need those speeds, 5Gbs or 10Gbs is fine. But they want to work directly off the drive for video editing.

Do the Orico NVMe drives get too hot for that (one or two hours work)?

    Cheers

Nah, I had very bad experience with an older model of Orico HDD dock which I bought not because I needed it then but a good price. I used it for a couple of times then left it sitting in the corner for years until I needed to upgrade the drives in my NAS. I was not really sure whether would work or not as it had been quite a while so I put an 80 GB IBM enterprise drive into it and it did work without any obvious issues then I put my 4TB IronWolf NAS drive into it and pushed the power button. And immediately I knew sh*t happened as the drive did spin up then suddenly stopped. I knew the power button was dodgy so I tried again and the drive was obviously dead. It turned out that the fuse on the drive blew and I had to buy a controller board of the exact model for around $40 to extract the fuse and replacing the blew one. Unfortunately I still did not realize the culprit was the dock so I put the fixed drive back and again exactly the same story. The only good news was that even the fuse was blew twice, the control board itself seemed still in good condition and it does not really need the fuse to work (the fuse, should really be a voltage clamp) and I didn't really want to spend another $40 to get a fuse so I simply removed it and I managed to extract the data in the drive with a 3.5" case bought later. Things might have changed but I personally don't want to take the risk again.

    • The ORICO HDD docking station work for SATA hard drive.
Welcome to contact us if you have any problems about the item, and we provide 12 month warranty on Amazon.

  • Is there any value to moving a WD elements drive out of its enclosure and into one of these? Heat? Ghetto non RAID NAS with a second drive?

  • no more Dual Bay Docking Station?

    • It doesn't seem to apply coupon for this one
