Pretty sure these filters never need replacing. Maybe every 5 - 10 years if the vacuum still works. They're designed to be washable too, but never seem to get dirty.

    • Mine 4 years now, still like new

This filter is designed flow from inside out. So the dirt trapped inside the filter and outside just looks clean.

Yeah after I wash with tap, and it dries, have to bang it upside down and big clumps of dirt just fall out

    • Gets nice and dirty if you sand some furniture and make the mistake of using the Dyson to pick up the ensuring dust. Gets all through the thing.

But yeah, we just wash ours. The filter will outlive the vacuum I bet.

    • had mine for over 6 years. Never washed, doesn't even look/feel dirty.

      • I tried to wash it just now and it was dirty actually when I squeezed it especially.

      • The dirt is on the inside

What’s wrong with washing the filter as instructed by Dyson?

    • Yes wash with cold non-soapy water every 3 months

I agree for the most part however: If you leave it too long between cleaning the dirt builds up on the inside of the long skinny filter so bad that standard washing doesn't fix it. We left it too long on ours and it made the room smell like a mouldy wet dog after unsuccessfully cleaning. I took the plastic frame off the filter and turned it inside out and it was disgusting.

New one of these filters (and aftermarket) replacement battery and our V6 is as good as new again.

      • Same

      • What replacement battery did you go with? Some are just crap and don't deliver enough amps.

    • What’s wrong with washing the filter as instructed by Dyson?

You might need a new one after it wears out from all the washing. Also you can have a spare dry one to continue vacuuming while the first one is washed and still wet.

Yeah a lot of people don't realise this filter is the main culprit if your Dyson is not performing well (that and a new battery). It always needs a good clean.

When our Dyson keeps cutting out on full power it is this filter that is clogged, I take it apart and wash the filter in soapy hot water - it's amazing what washes out. Once dried its back to business. Thanks OP and have ordered one - after opening ours a few times those plastic tabs are getting fragile and will snap soon enough. On the plus side, I now have a DRY spare waiting

mine keeps falling out if I turn it upside down so that's why I am thinking about getting replacements.

why is this better than this vendor which is cheaper?

    • Yea
the ones in your link has cheaper price

    • Thanks,, I bought these ones.

    • why is this better than this vendor(amazon.com.au) which is cheaper?

What was the price you saw it at? It's showing me $11.99 vs $10.11 on this lightning deal

      • +1

I think it was 9 bucks. I didn't buy them and just washed my old one. Haha.

  • Need one of these for our V6 as the filter in ours has a hardened rubber seal and it makes the filter loose and fall out when the vacuum is not upright.

    • You could try replacing the 'O'-ring. Otherwise you could try smearing the rubber with a little Vaseline. It might re-hydrate it and expand the seal slightly, or the Vaseline might be enough to fill the gaps and maintain vacuum.

  • and it's gone

  • I needed this because my filter stank even after washing. After replacing no more stench.

  • The thumbnail pic looked like a bong, got me confused a bit! 😇
