Could buy a car instead of this !

    • +4

      What’s your point?

      • +29

Could purchase an automobile with that amount of money

        • +1

What if they already have a car and want this?

          • -3

            @Fooah: I guess it’s a decision they should make

          • +3

@Fooah: In exchange for a widely accepted currency they may acquire a motor vehicle in stead of this graphics processing unit

        • -5

Did you think people aren’t aware of this? Are you special?

          • @[Deactivated]: I think it's important we list more things that you could buy with this money.

            I will begin

            You could buy bunnings vouchers.

(whoops on the @ - didn't mean it)

        • +4

But can the automobile render in 8K?!

    • Maybe you should do that then

    • Any car you buy for that price will likely need an additional $1-2k spent within the first 6months of service work. Nobody sells second hand cars at that price with newish/unwarn parts in it sadly… Unless their REAL nice people.

      In saying that, $3k for a videocard… yeah, I'll stick with my $1049AUD 6800XT :)

  • +6

Not a good value if you only play game, but 24gb vram might be useful for productivity

    • It's a good choice if you need more than 10-11GB of VRAM for machine learning or rendering tasks, essentially the replacement for the more expensive prev gen Titan.

  • +2

The prices of 3090 cards seem to have all dropped by about $150-200 due to low sales. I noticed this few days ago.

  • +5

What the fark man, why is graphic cards so expensive

    • +1

I say the same thing about smartphones like iPhone 12 and Galaxy S20. But the prices are heavily driven by demand. There's no way it's costing companies so much more in 20/21 to make the components like the memory, electronics and processor to justify the prices.

      • +1

But the prices are heavily driven by demand.

there wouldnt be much demand for the 3090 at these prices I woudnt thinkl

        • Demand for the other cards means nothing available which in turn means people get desperate and impatient and then fork out for these. Demand in one market can affect other markets.

          • @[Deactivated]: people have been waiting for ages, 1 week 1 month more wont make difference to the majority of people.

many people dont have that extra coin layin round for the next model up - or they would be buying it in the first place.

            • @pharkurnell: It's been selling very well. There may be some stock still in Australia but that's not the case everywhere:

"Unless you're willing to pay way over the odds, finding where to buy the GeForce RTX 3090 is still stupidly hard. That's because the most powerful enthusiast-grade graphics card from Nvidia has pretty much sold out everywhere.

Unfortunately, we don't expect any new GeForce RTX 3090 to arrive in high volumes in the foreseeable future. But that's to be expected as Nvidia knew this situation was coming up and apologized in advance, noting that stocks were always going to be low as the RTX 3090 is more of a professional and high-end enthusiast rather than a mass-market graphics card."

The above is from an article that came out today:

              https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.tomsguide.com/amp/news/wher…

    • +1

Can put a price tag of 10k gronks will still pay!!!

    • actually this is why we can get the same products in reasonable price in a few years because high price at the beginning covers the developing cost.

    • They're not. This is very very cheap for a productivity card compared to other work-focused ones (e.g. Quadros).

      Example: https://www.mwave.com.au/product/leadtek-nvidia-quadro-rtx-a…

Gaming X TRIO is $2,799 in limited qty from Tecs.

  • +2

    The 3080 is for gamers.
The 3090 is for productivity and clickbait review videos.

    • +9

We all know real gamers use integrated graphics

    • +1

3080 is no where to be seen because Nvidia know people will get impatient and just pay the 3090 price

      • +4

I'm willing to bet the majority of the users particularly on Ozb, won't cave into spending an extra 2k for a 3090

        • +1

Nope but unfortunately people are because they keep running out of stock

  • Holy cow.

  • +2

This is MSRP, and once you've adjusted for tax, it's an MSRP that sits 25% above US MSRP (and I don't want to hear about the impact of US tariffs, because they should not be a factor the cost of stock direct from Taiwan/China to Australia).

Just avoid any brand that does this crap, and they'll look over what the local suppliers are doing and just drop them.

    • -4

just because you don't want to hear it don't mean it has no effect - we are gouged because we can't import anymore without paying border taxes - applies to everything and now we are a vassal yank state China will stick to us as well.

Thats australian federal trade policy - yank or nothing.

      • This is wildly incorrect.

        • -2

because you say so - chinese deals have shrunk… computer gear prices have risen massively, and border taxes remain an impediment to a free market… all facts… so its your personal opinion alone…

          • @petry: No, I'm very much sitting in the majority, you're sitting with the News Ltd comments section.

If what you're saying is true, you'd be witnessing these kinds of price spikes in the UK and a lot of the EU, but you're not.

I've got no time for conspiracy theories.

            • -2

@jasswolf: nope england was part of the eec so prices were european not yank … you are very uninformed if you think Murdoch talks about american gouging, hes still denying climate change and terrorism, as is our government still…

You claim to be representing the majority, what platform of superiority are you claiming to be stood on? Trumpism?

              • @petry: That's some incredible mental gymnastics you're doing there. Trump is out of his gourd, and I'm not right-leaning at all.

AFAIK there are no EU or UK tariffs on electronics, it's just VAT that gets applied. So the difference in costs would be entirely down to logistics in any given member nation.

There is no supporting evidence for your claims, no official statements, it's purely a consequence of AU suppliers rebuying stock off other suppliers in other regions, or getting things on special order or first-class shipped.

EVGA had no significant 'Australia tax'.

                • -1

@jasswolf: no conspiracy theories here - no mental gymnastics - pure economic consequences of protectionist and regressive taxation policies as introduced by the liberal national government over the last decades.

au computer distributers are gouging australians with the deliberate assistance of federal government.

the same federal government that has turned australia into an american vassal state quite deliberately and driven down living standards and increased prices.

you like to call people names, you like to try and demean them, you make up things, and you don't like facts. Very trump and you are right wing.

the 2013 government investigation found 50% price hikes but did nothing, in 2018 they increased that disparity with border tax

                  • @petry: You're changing your story with every post now.

I've called you no names, and you've come in swinging in response to my comment. Looking through your claims about my behaviour, you're projecting.

                    Meanwhile: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/596925

                    • -2

@jasswolf: carry on with the sledging since thats all you can do - facts speak the truth….and referencing this site as a source as opposed to the confirmation of the australian 50% technology gouging proven in 2013 makes your position unjustifiable.

carry on promoting overpriced gouging at the expense of a country you clearly care nothing about.

                      • @petry: Oh so you're literally talking about software prices? So not even the point I was making, at all, and almost a decade ago.

It was also explored and decried by the ACCC. We're done here mate, you've made your completely irrelevant point.

                        • @jasswolf: no it was hardware as well - the recommendations made were to encourage parallel importation which the liberals then completely reversed by imposition of the border tax….

the accc are worth less than jack these days so your factually incorrect statements besides being fiction are like so many others round here these days deliberately misinformative ….

  • +2

No deal. Many places have this in stock for RRP

  • +1

You quoted a video from, "Nvidia unfriendly" youtube channel that got kicked off Nvidia's reviewers' list.
Just pointing out how ridiculous Nvidia is.

    • -1

      And someone negged for facts

      It was terrible

  • +9

GPU debates aside its no deal, these were going for $2800 at a lot of places last week and tecs still has it up and listed cheaper.

  • Shaite! Twice the price of my PC.

    • +1

And believe or not, it is selling as hot chips lol

      • +1

Imagine if it died 1 day outside of warranty. I'd be spewin'.

  • +2

Thanks Nvidia for ripping people off with yours shit products. PC master race never more.

    • As opposed to what exactly?

      • 4 ps5's?

      • +1

Keep your PC, buy second hand parts, buy part who are compatible with the performance/price. I am against the masterrace PC, not the budget/fair PCs.

        • +1

          amen

  • +2

    RRP is not a deal!!!!

    • -2

Thanks for adding those three exclamation points, they really added to your well-reasoned argument.

      • +1

reason and promoting these rip-off prices as a bargain is more than questionable…..

      • +2

Thanks for showing your passion and love for overpriced rip-off deals , we'll makes sure you get all these kind of offers from now on!!!!

    • This is actually well above RRP. Terrible deal OP.

  • +1
  • +1

Deals like this should be banned on ozbargain
Over Rrp is not a bargain 😂

  • +1

It is in stock for a reason. Not enough demand at this price. Price will drop further soon. These suppliers wouldn't want it to just sit on the shelve, waiting for depreciation.

  • +1

Sorry, it's pretty easy to find 3090s in stock at this price.

  • Agree with everyone.. there is now a much better deal listed making this hella expensive

  • +1
    1. Above RRP
    2. Cheaper somewhere else
    3. Terrible cost per fps
    4. Disgusting power consumption
    5. Bad money invested
    6. Dodgy company

Yeah, for this first time in years I am using my neg vote. I am proud of myself.
