Greetings All

I'm in the market to buy a king mattress and sleeping duck seem to fit in my budget. However the website is very fancy and heavily marketed via youtube and uses words, which only sounds good, to describe its product features. Ex, AirGrown foams, hexa-cells, antigravity, componentadapt system. breathetech, multi-zoned steel spring system and so on.

Any sleeping duck owners here that can comment on the Mattress quality and their experience? I get that Mattress is a subjective thing etc and there is a 100 day trial period but I just cant be bothered going through the hassle of returning something.

Also the reviews in productreview website are all 5 star from customers who've never reviewed before. So this is kinda sus.

Koala on the other hand has had much greater rep at least on this website and its almost $1000 cheaper - in the end its all foam aint it?

Also, their warranty has some restrictions on what type of base it is used so I'll be limited with their crappy looking base.

    Bought the SD Mach II recently, only had it for about a month but I'm enjoying it. Got the medium firmness and it's super comfortable for both me and my partner. It definitely does run hot for me, but I've always run warm when I'm sleeping so not a surprise for me. Hard to really judge after only a month but I'm happy with it.

    My 2 cents(AUD)-
    Avoid
    - Any ikea like plague, awful quality and return policy.
    - Foams of all kinds for their nasty fumes which can last anywhere from a month to a year. You may or may not smell depending on the strength of your sense but they spew out either way.
    - springs for their ‘legendary’ back hurting reputation.
    - any combination of above ones.

    Natural Latex (not synthetic) mattress is nice, cool and comfortable (maybe best type?). Plenty of suppliers in Queensland and if you feel resourceful you can source from overseas and save 1000s of $s (Australian suppliers source from overseas and mark them up 10s of times).

    Rydges Dreambed (queen, sub $2,000) is best mattress ever I’ve owned. So comfortable, heaps better than Sealy exquisite mattress that I bought in the same year which cost me over $2,500 (rrp over $5,000.

    I have bought two of these never had any issues, extremely comfortable. Maybe slight depression in the middle as i sleep in the middle, but nothing excessive. Cant go wrong for ~$350 delivered for a queen with eurotop

    I have a Simmons BeautyRest World Class Superior firm, about 10 years old, pocket coils are still spot on but the thin layer of foam gave up after 7 years.

    Next up, I got a Serta Perfect Night with 5cm visco elastic eurotop (memory foam) - super comfortable but the memory foam is impossibly hot in summer unless the aircon is running all night.

    In hotel quarantine I got to try a Sealy pocket coil with some sort of eurotop foam and it was very comfortable and not too hot but that could have been because the aircon was set to 21C for the full 14 days.

    My preference is definitely pocket coil with some sort of quality foam topper, best way to get the support+comfort combination.

    Two people at work and myself all own sleeping duck and pretty well love them.

    Only complaint is one of the coworkers got the soft instead of firm, and as its worn in they feel it sags a little, I have owned the firm longer than them and still find it great.

    Dont see any point to upgrade to the 2nd version, first will do its job for years to come

    We have a Koala one, bought it about 4 years ago.

    Reasonably firm, very comfy. No complaints here.

    I've had both Koala and Sleep Republic. The Koala was WAY too hot. It also started to visibly sag. Luckily it was within the return period so I did just that. Bought a Sleep Republic afterwards and it is way better.

    You people are insane, paying $1000 for a QB foam mattress from Koala etc. I paid about $300 on sale for a decent brand sprung pillowtop QB. Because of people like y'all thinking $1K is a bargain, prices have risen. gg wp

    Was in the market for a new mattress recently too, ended up with the Bellagio 2 from HN.

    It was a bit of money, but literally feels like sleeping on a cloud, like you're floating but there's heaps of support across the body. No lower back pain, shoulder pain etc.

    It is strangely incredible.

    Actually took a big risk, as for my 20+ years of life, it was always "very firm" and "firm" beds and now changing to the bellagio plush, I didn't expect i'd be able to settle into it so easily.

    That being said, I highly recommend going in store and lying on different beds. Snooze and fortywinks (I think?) have a bed where it scans your body and sees where you need the most support… didn't end up buying from them though… but that's how the plush came along.

    Test the beds from the 1k to 10k price point and honestly see the difference. Then you'll be able to comfortably say, you've slept on it all and make a decision.

    I have an expensive king mattress (MySide series 8). Started sagging/sinking pretty quick and pretty significantly. Only 4yo now. Looking for new and recommendations too.

    Hi looking at getting the new MACH II sleeping duck. Anyone got one and can comment on heat? Im assuming with the variable firmness I can sort out something that works but my wife is really hot sleeper and currently got the Ecosa and she is not happy with heat so we will likely send it back.

    I have one and it is awesome. I had to contact support to swap the firm with an extra firm topper though (which they don't offer through the website). They swapped it for free and let me keep the original topper.

    We bought a king koil about 8 years ago. Queen with the extra padding on top. Has not missed a beat and not sagged one bite. Cost about 1000 half price. I would buy these instead of online and heavy marketing merchants. Go and try.

    I’ve tried the original sleeping duck and it was good but we ended up going with the sleep republic to save money. Mistake. The sleep republic lost its firmness over 2-3 years. It’s not a good quality mattress. Choice magazine has stress tested the sleeping duck mattress so I would think it will last better.

    That said, you’ll get better quality overall from a real mattress maker like Chiropedic. They have 20year warranties. If you want to stop changing your mattress every 5 years because of sagging, go with a local quality mattress maker.

    I originally purchased the Sleep Republic mattress but found it a bit too firm as I am a side/stomach sleeper, so ended up returning it. It also developed a dip after me sleeping on it for a month, which I wasn't expecting to happen. It seemed good quality besides this & was comfortable for a firmer mattress.

    I then went on to purchase the Sleeping Duck in the Medium firmness on referral from friends who had one for years (full disclosure they also gave me a $50 off referral coupon) & were very happy with it. I have had it for almost a year now & so far I really like it, the medium was perfect for me.

    I don't find that it gets too hot & I sleep quite warm. I liked the ability to change the foams to different levels of firmness, I believe they now have 4 different options, but extra options for a full set of custom smaller parts if those don't suit you. There is a bit of a smell out of the box, but I noticed that with the Sleep Republic too, I just left it to air out & expand for a day or two before I started sleeping on it so the smell dissipated.

    Have both an ecosa and sleeping duck purchased within 3 months. Got the Ecosa for our son because it’s cheaper. Both are comfortable but the sleeping duck quality seems slightly better build wise.

    Either is fine and I would buy both again.

    I like the Koala because partner's movements are not transferred, but it is a bit too soft for my taste. I had an expensive pocketed spring mattress before but would still wake up with partner's movements.

    I had one but returned it

    At the end of the day, it's a low cost foam mattress from China, no matter how much marketing about how 'high tech' it is

    I prefer a quality, Australian made inner spring mattress. Got one for a little bit more. Much more cost go into making a proper mattress like this.

    Another option - Tempur made in Denmark IF you like memory foam

    I've been sleeping on an Ecosa (out of box configuration) with the bamboo fitted sheet over the mattress for about a month now coming from a traditional mattress and I gotta say I really enjoy sleeping on it. Very comfortable for me with the right amount of stiffness providing good support both lying flat or sleeping on the side. Only reason I picked Ecosa was because it's the cheapest I could find at the time and also the fact that you can adjust stiffness via moving the layers around which I thought was handy.

    Currently trialing the Noa Luxe. Not sure on it, a bit stiff, but early days. I’d be curious if anyone has compared a Noa to a SD. Also was Noa covered in Choice - where’d they rate?

    It's hot as fk because it has latex. Koala mattress or ozmattress is better for summer I think.

    i just bought one 2 weeks ago. delivery was within 2 days, super quick. weirdly though I couldn't sleep properly the first night because it was more comfortable than i'm used to compared to my 10 year old mattress.

    We bought an EVA brand mattress, it’s been fantastic. I am guessing it’s around 6-9 months old.
    The site had a sale at the time $750 and reviews and returns policy were pretty good.

    Running a SD King at the moment, approx 6 months and it's fantastic. Two large adults and it's holding up really well, and it probably the best mattress we have had in the last 15 or so year, and the cheapest.

    I was skeptical being that in comes in a box (a big one at that!) but after 2 nights on it my back was not as sore and I was sleeping well. My wife is always shifting /up and I hardly notice her at all.

    The only complain that she has is that the edges are maybe a bit firm, but I usually hang one leg over when I sleep and I've not had any problems.

    We got the medium and it's quite firm enough for us - no sinking etc. has been encountered.

    Highly recommended!

    Suprised not a single comment mentioning sleepmaker range.

    Got my last one in 2008 (spine align 300 latex pillowtop) lasted about 6-7 years till I started to notice sag and had a back injury that wasn't helpful but its taken another 5 years to purchase another (jade from sleepy's gets delivered soon). Plus getting older and heavier heat has been an issue (even though fitness has been good)

    Both times of purchase we've gone to test out multiple times and the salesman have been ok to negotiate price even from the 50% off already.

    This new one has less foam topping but still didn't notice the springs and all the best/cool technologies sleepmaker "make"/advertise. My old one I cut open and could honestly replace the top layer with some new foam as this couple did but 12 years was enough.

    Sleeping Duck is absolutely insane. I have never had a better bed. I have ZERO regret. I also went to their warehouse/showroom to try one out in Melbourne and they were super helpful.

    Best purchase I've EVER made.
