Query: any way of implementing a saved / starred system for deals so easier to keep track (esp W future deals or for comparison)?
You can use the bookmark feature located at the bottom of the description.
Ahh nice thanks! Using for years and never realised… 😳
A new condition has come around for instant win competitions - "winning moments". An example is here:
a) There will be a total of 40,320 ‘winning moments’ during the Promotional Period. The first valid entry received during each ‘winning moment’, will be a provisional instant prize winner, subject to verification. If no valid entry is received during a winning moment, no prize will be awarded in respect of that ‘winning moment’. In addition, if a prize is not won during a ‘winning moment’ then the prize is null and void and will not be rolled over to another ‘winning moment’ or awarded via an unclaimed prize draw.
Unfortunately these are becoming common.
Can I suggest another check-box option for Winning Moments that the OP or Mod/PU can tick. Some people may want to avoid these competitions
The recent change to the CSS to make my laptop have a mobile view is really annoying.
See the hamburger menu https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/311362/92516/screensho…
You can force change to the Desktop Site by clicking the link in the footer that says "Full Site".
Yep, I'm the idiot. I didn't realize it was in mobile mode,
Can we increase the limit of the pages for browsing the site to more than 20? When it's a busy period, for eg this weekend's sales, the first 20 pages can potentially still be deals from the last 24 hours. And if we've had a busy day without checking OzBargain, can miss some deals. I have my account set to pagination (can't stand infinite scroll) and my minimum votes are both set to -10 so that I see all posts.
It goes up to 99.
ha! In all these years I've never actually trawled through that section as I just go from the home page which only goes up to 19
Yeah home page takes more effort to generate so we are limiting the number of pages. However if you want to see all the deals you should use the all deals page.
@scotty: Understandable. Thanks scotty!
Post title guidelines around Cashrewards and ANZ Max….
Could we have a rule in place where the deal title should be the standard cashback rate for all users then in brackets the ANZ Max rate? Otherwise we wil have 2 posts for each increase cashback deal - one for ANZ Max and one for everyone else.
With ANZ buying Cashrewards, I think it's safe to assume the increased ANZ Max deals are only going to increase. Can we have "general" Active Deals sorted above the specific items please?
Such as Cashrewards/Shopback etcetera.
Example.. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals/amazon.com.au clunky to find "overall-use" limited time deals per retailer basis. Is there any plans to put suggested spelling correction into search like other albeit larger search engines?
Following up.
Comment editing system in Messages? like we already do in threads.
I couldn't see this suggested yet so apologies if it has been.
When there's a sitewide discount coupon, we get a flurry of "x product for $y" posts, would it be possible to have the main "x% off sitewide" then have people just discuss the potential options in the comments instead? Situations like we have right now where there's a 10% off sitewide for JB Hifi we get a flurry of deals posted by people stating another product in the store is also 10% off. It helps the main page from getting too cluttered.
@scotty thank you for implementing the green and red vote colours to tell you if you have voted on a comment already in mobile view 🥰
Probably better late than never.
Restrict new users on posting a Covid thread. Similar to Classified criteria.
I don't think there is a shortage of existing threads that they are free to add their thoughts to, just a simple restriction to limit creating a new thread. May also stop the temptation of members posting while in the penalty box.
It's easy to simply post in a different category. In fact, the post you are referencing was posted in a different category; it was moved by a moderator 7 minutes after moving to the covid section. That user and their ghost accounts often post in other categories, most likely for better visibility reasons.
Thank you for your quick response.
Many "classifieds" start in the wrong category as well. The current post has been culled as a Ghost Account. Would a rule similar to classifieds be easier to administer than identifying a ghost account? In this case the post would have been taken down after 7 minutes.
When a deal gets posted and the system is confident it knows what the product is, it looks at the last time that product was posted and grabs the highest voted comment and nests it at the top of the comment section. Maybe it is pre collapsed.
There are many great conversations about products that are had but then lost when another deal is posted about the same product.
Or maybe when a good comment or conversation is had, users can vote to archive it into the products wiki page?
Not sure if it has already been mentioned, but it would be a cool feature to have the main bar locked in as you scroll up/down.
As in locked to the bottom? Because it does that already on my phone.
Yeah, that’s all good. I mean the main bar up top, the one that allows you to navigate through the site.
Unpopular suggestion. When negging and saying X is cheaper elsewhere it should be a requirement to link the cheaper product. What happens currently if the price isn't cheaper elsewhere like they've stated? Neg remains based on a lie.
To elaborate further. Let's say it's a rep post since votes have an impact on posting limits wouldn't negs based around lies make that unfair? Change the ideally to must in the guidelines.
New year & new suggestions post. I'm closing this one.
@scotty: How does the public or members know if there are any bugs in the system making it unfair or even if the system has been hacked?
Is there some of transparency to prevent algorithmic bias that I'm missing?
