hi! I'm currently looking for hotpot thinly sliced meat - I'm not entirely sure where to purchase from (besides Woolworths) which they sell for $7.50 for 290grams. I live in the Northern suburbs however, am happy to travel to the South East :-) thank you in advance !!!
Hotpot Thinly Sliced Meat- Where to Buy?
Comments
haha sorry… melbourne! :D
Korean or Chinese or Japanese supermarket will have it
Buy a meat slicer and cut your own. You will have better quality meat (your choice) and it will soon pay for itself.
Wouldn't any butcher do this? All you have to do is tell them what you want and how thinly sliced..
Alternatively DIY. All you need is a decent knife. Put the meat in the freezer for an hour or two to firm it up to make it easier to make really thin slices.
I don't think butcher can slice fresh meat thin enough for hot pot
They'd do it on the machine rather than by hand.
Asian supermarket or butcher
As ive said previously…
Buy normal meat, semi-freeze and thinly slice.Hard to cut that thin still. Asian supermarket should be able to sort you out! Definitely pay a premium for it though!
Not with a decent knife. I imagine this is how it was done for centuries - probably still is done.
Coles has a few
Asian grocery stores in Preston, Lalor and Richmond
Recently got this for myself, very happy so far!

For this price I would go for electric slicer.
I did bit of digging online, electric ones appear very difficult to clean,. so unless youre doing very large batches, manual seems the way to go
Asian supermarkets have it, might be called shabu shabu beef in some places.
