Eligible customers will receive a payment of $10 into their Pay account within a few days of fulfilling the bonus criteria.

    Should it be $20?

86400 company reps lurking here: Give us an app based method to change our $5000 daily limit, instead of needing to call your hotline! Plus it doesn't work on weekends.

Ironically as a Neobank, this is such a pain vs trad banks like ING, which you can sort out in the app alone or the web login.

Otherwise good interest rates in an environment where saving doesn't mean shit anymore.

According to their 86400 roadmap, looks like there's an item for "Increase daily payment limit" in the Planning phase. If all the OzBargainers on this post goes to upvote it, it might progress faster?

  • Are we able to sign up and decline the debit card from being issued out to you?

    • No harm chatting with them I guess but you can always cut it up if you don’t want a physical card.

    • Enter an NEWYEAR20 code on the ‘About you’ screen when signing up

  • genuine bank accounts and a pretty good app. has some issues with their pushing energy plans and connected accounts, but ignore that and there's a "pay" account with visa debit card, NPP/osko, and all the *pays on phones/watches, etc. can default to eftpos on apple pay, if that's your thing.
savings account with market leading interest rate, all 1.2% of it.

Heads up everyone if you're confused where to type the code, you need to use 'NEWYEAR20' where it says "I've got a referral code" in the app during sign up. I called them and asked.

    • da real MVP

    • what if you've signed up trying to look for where to put it (as some of us wasn't sure it was referral code)

  • International Students Cannot sign up for this bank , so no use for me :(

So as someone who is new to neobanks, do they offer credit cards? or just debit/bank accounts?

I already have a Latitude 28 Degrees Mastercard for international purchases.
Would signing up to these banks be any benefit to me?

I already manage cash flow from multiple credit cards.

revolut looks interesting with disposable cards, but still not sure where I would use this, all credit cards have insurance against fraud anyway….

    • +1

      Well savings maybe?

I don't care for 86400s savings rate (although it's certainly not bad) as I have access to BOQ and Westpac at 3pct, but is one of the few banks that let you direct debit out of a savings account which is pretty good.

      No credit cards

    • +1

Such digital/neo banks (e.g. Up and 86400) typically only provide debit accounts.

One possible benefit would be for security. For example, as you plan to sell your unwanted Xmas gifts on Gumtree/Facebook, the buyer may want to transfer the funds to your bank account rather than paying cash (e.g. contactless reasons). Or, since you're here on ozbargain, you may have a CashRewards/ShopBack account that you've been accumulating cashbacks $. Instead of providing your main bank account (linked to your savings, wage/income payments, investment/loans, and credit cards), it may be handy and more secure to provide a digital/neo bank account details that you only use to collect the funds, which you then control the flow of funds back to your main bank account. Yes, this may be an extra step, but in light of the breaches/leaks and random people having your bsb/acct number, such inconveniences (buyer/cashback $$-> Up/86400-> main bank) is better than needing to closing and resetting your main bank account.

PS - As far as I know (please correct me if I am wrong), such debit accounts should not be impacting your credit rating.

        thanks for the answers.

ok, not worth my time at the moment.
I rarely sell stuff online, and the few times I have, I use PayID and just give them my mobile, I don't give out bank details.

I guess it depends on how you manage your money.

I pay for everything with credit cards, specifically high-interest credit cards with points gained.
I manage the cash flow and have never paid interest on a credit card.

I'll pass. This $20 is so much harder than $20 you get with a Cashrewards referral.

    • +4

May you please elaborate on why this is so much harder?

I was under the impression that you simply need to set up the account, transfer a couple dollars in, go buy a $1 frozen coke from Maccas with the (digital) card, and then wait for the bonus to roll in.

      • +3

that is exactly what i did when i made my acc.

        • How to use the digital card? I think I need to wait until the physical card arrives in the mail to activate it

Been a week or so now

    • +1

That requires person referred to make a minimum purchase using Cashrewards. That's outside your control & may not happen.
This is much easier & up to the person signing up spending little.

  • 86 400 neobank vs Athena online bank?

86 400 has home loan starting at 2.15%…

Do 86 400 do construction loans?

  • Is their electricity comparison and plan switching feature any good?

  • -6

Lmao. $20 is enough to lure you suckers in

    • +2

Lmao. An ozbarginer saying no to extra $20.

  • +1

Any minimum amount to be eligible? 1 cent okay?

  • How is this compare to UP?

  • Thanks, just signed up

  • Thanks OP and signed up with the code. Is it safe to link other bank a/c with this as there has an option?

  • Signed up and received the $20 bonus. Cheers OP!

  • Signed up today, added the account to Google Pay, however the card doesn't show up in my Google Pay under payment methods.

Called 86 400, they said all good on their end, we tried couple more times but no luck. Was told I would need to wait for a physical card in the mail before I can start making any card payments.

Can anyone at least tell me how many days it was for their plastic card to arrive?

    • Received card in about 3 to 5 days with CVV code then you can activate. Received the bonus a few days after first payment made.

    • I'm an android user.
I'm just wondering how are you adding the card to Google pay?
I do not see any option of adding to digital pay.
And to activate the card needs actual card since it's asking for last 4 digits no from card.
I guess no choice but wait for physical card now.

  • Now in process of being bought by UBANK.

    • nAB just bought it big boi

Yet to be approved by regulators.
        Still just a proposed acquisition.
So a fair way off your "just bought"!

Forum discussion started yesterday: UBank Is Acquiring 86 400

If approved, integration of systems with UBank is expected to take up to 2 years.

My Mrs gave it a try today… Looks like the code invalid… Even though still advertise on their website

    • Can't seem to see it on their website anymore, now it's changed to SUMMER10 and $10

      • +1

damn… not even 31st march yet as advertise… looks like they hit a hiccup in their own promotion.

        • T&C: "right to stop the offer at any time"
          Pretty normal condition in promotions.

Must have got enough new customers to increase the sale price of 86400 to UBank. Code stopped working around time sale was announced.
