Has anyone tried Woolworths Coffee Beans Espresso 1kg?

Is it just me or is this new?
Seems like it may be our new go-to if they are somewhat decent.

Yeah, I don’t get the Aldi coffee hype. Maybe it’s because I buy ground and use a French press, but I find Vittoria mountain grown is better than any of the Aldi ones I’ve tried.
Only thing I can think of is that since Vittoria is popular at my local store and sells out frequently perhaps it’s somehow fresher than the Aldi stuff which doesn’t seem popular around here.
Freshness would probably be it. I know someone mentioned that the beans have changed so that's probably contributed too. I think a lot of it comes down to people not wanting to spend any more than $15 per kg of beans.
Lol, I’m that guy.
Luckily Vittoria is on half price sale nearly every other week because there’s no way I’d pay $36/kg for it.
If you are buying ground they are well and truly stale no matter what you buy. Aldi beans are popular because the dark roast has a decent flavour and is usually roasted within the past month. My favourite coffee is Danes and Pablo and Rusty's but unless there is a good deal on i'm happy with Aldi for $12 a kg.
I should probably try the beans but that would require getting a grinder, one thing would likely lead to another and I’d probably end being one of those guys perpetually chasing the perfect at home coffee…
Which Aldi beans did you try? I think they sell about six varieties of whole beans. It would be good to know which ones you didn't like and roughly when you got them. I've been happy with all of the single origin beans I've tried and their medium roast, but I haven't tried their dark roast or pre-ground (and wouldn't want to).
Medium and Dark Roast beans late 2019. Not possible to get more now unless I want to fly interstate 😉
For the price they're probably good value but I'd rather spend more for better.
The dark roast is the best IMO. Beans only, never pre-ground.
I'm fond of ALDI shopping, but yes, the coffee is shyte.
Aldi Dark roast beans plus grinder = not too bad as long as you don't over extract and use water no hotter than about 90 degrees maximum. For the price, the turnover means never very old. They're not a patch on freshly roasted Porter Street Blend from Pablos (personal preference for mass produced local roaster) but are also available within 1k of me and are 1/4 the price!
Once the bags been opened more then 3 weeks, whats left gets chocolate coated and used as snack food for energy! :)
12 dollars for a kilogram of beans is pretty good… been drinking this for 6 months or so… every now and then i'll mix in some premium beans (about 50/50 ratio) for a special occasion…
I’m a bit of a coffee snob (usually buy seven seeds, dukes etc.) but got some of these when I ran out of beans recently. Was actually surprised how decent they are for $12 / kg. Would actually recommend
Should mention I bought whole beans and as a previous comment mentioned, on a good machine with a good grinder, the coffee was very decent
Can't be any worse than Aldi.
