Harris Farm Randwick had at least a few dozen slabs of Driscoll blueberries for $12.99 as of 6pm Monday evening. Unknown if other HF locations have the same deal.
I've been through the first 4 punnets so far and found only 2 bad berries. Not the "crispest" blueberries for eating by themselves, if that makes sense, (though not mushy either, and I'm eating them out of a bowl whilst watching the BBL stream myself) hence probably why they're inexpensive.
The variety seems to have a mostly sweet flavour without a sharp bite to give the taste dimension, not found any sour ones so far in my munching, and the punnets have lots of large berries. So my guess based on that is these might have been picked when they were very ripe just before it would have been too late, and Harris Farm got a deal on them. Plenty fine for eating in fruit salad, making crumble, making pancakes/muffins/etc.
Yes, I used to live down the road from a blueberry farm that allowed pick-your-own, and am (sadly) a connoisseur of blueberry taste, texture, and maturity, though I never got around to memorising the names of the varieties.
Also at Lindfield HF - Seaview Berries from NSW.
They seem to have been frozen/semi frozen previously and defrosting in the store. Won't last long unless you freeze them again.
… Hence I didn't post.
