I watch Netflix/SBS On Demand on my Lenovo laptop using my Iphone Hotspot without any issues.
I need a new TV but do not have and do not want to get NBN/internet but ideally would like to also watch these basic apps on the new TV using the same hotspot.
Any suggestions on a TV brand/model where this is more likely to be successful? Or is it totally dependent upon the hotspot connection?
Thanks in advance.
Netflix on Smart TV Using iPhone Hotspot

Most smart TV's with wifi will be able to do what you want - the big 3 (LG, Samsung, Sony) will all work.
even if it doesn't work you can always get a cheap fire TV which even has a data saving mode and You can even limit the usage
You're obviously already doing it fine but a) i found that netflix uses a shockingly large amount of data (I burnt through like 20gb on hotspot in a bored weekend), and b) the hotspot switches itself off after a while if you don't tell it to do otherwise
yeh I was hotspotting on my 65inch for almost a year. some buffering issues and you really gotta switch off 4k/ use medium quality otherwise you'll chew through your data like crazy
you can also try screen mirroring off your phone to TV but it was so painful. sometimes it would work, and other times it wouldn't, or it would just stop halfway. I also bought a hdmi cord to connect my phone to TV. If you do this, buy a super high quality cord
Thanks all for the info, now feel a bit more confident making the splurge purchase.
We run our Sony TV from a hotspot with no issues; don't see why it would be any different for any other brands
