Dental resin shattered

So I recently had two resin caps applied by a Dentist.
One of them shattered about an hour ago, I bit into dried mango. So not exactly a shear force, nor something hard.

My Dentist's office is shut until the 11th, but has a sister office nearby (I have already logged for a callback, and explained it).
I think this is just a dental glue procedure, since I have the fragment wrapped in a tissue.

Anybody have experience with this? Are Dentists obligated to provide this service as part of the initial charge… would the other office need to as well?

When did you have the caps put on? If it was recently then the dentists should sort it out for free. The good ones do anyway.
Did they 'shatter' or just fall off?
I had a cap once that used to fall off as there wasn't enough stump for it to get a proper attachment to. After a few years it just wouldn't grip at all so I now have a nice implant instead.

    • Would have been mid october.
I think it broke? It doesn't seem like what is left is my actual tooth.

A man go and eat a mango and his tooth go, oh no.

    • Sounds like something Bloody Mary from South Pacific would say. Keep talking happy talk.

  • So not exactly a shear force

While it may not have been a shear force the dried mango may have contributed to a cleavage stress, in which failure can occur at a lower threshold.

    • Dried mango is still very soft. I meant I bit into it directly. I didn't bite and tear into it.
