AppleCare on imported products

Hi,

Would you purchase a grey import Apple product and take out AppleCare if the total cost would be the same as an Australian stocked one that's covered by consumer law?

Comments

  • No. First of all, why go to all that trouble to get a grey import when you can get up to 25% off here.

    • +1

This could be a product purchased while overseas so there wouldn’t be much trouble.

AppleCare offers international coverage so it could be useful if you needed a repair when you’re out of the country.

      • Depends on the product, if its a stationary imac or mac mini or desktop mac than no. But if you're talking about iphones or ipads, I might as well. The fixing costs really don't go down

        • The only other benefit I can think of would be the Express Replacement Service.

          • @[Deactivated]: I just bought the 12 pro max, I haven't decided whether or not i want the apple care. Check your relevant insurances to see what you're covered first.

      • Warning. Apple care while converting your warranty to international coverage does NOT include the replacement options

We bought an Apple Watch in Japan.
        Bought apple care
        Watch got damaged.
Apple in Australia simply could not replace it (for the fee) as it was the “part numbers” caused an issue.

We thankfully were going back to Japan within the timeframe and had it replaced in Japan.
