  • Can I buy a lens in the same order, or will that make it "ineligible"?

    • It doesn't specifically say. Though with Amazon, I recommend doing a new order for each product to avoid bundling of shipments

  • Fujifilm x-s10 or canon eos rp ? Which one you reckon is better or hobbyists photographer?

    • I have little experience with both of these units. I'd recommend using the forum doing a google to see if someone else has compared them. My general recommendation is to purchase cameras based on lens selection - as the shelf life for cameras tends to only be a few years, whereas lenses might stay in your collection for 15-20 years. Do you have any lens already for these units?

      • I had sony camera. I have sold my sony a6000 and lenses. I want to go to fujifilm caz of film simulation and better jpeg images. But, canon rp is tempting because of cheap price and full frame sensor.

        • I just bought RP and am pretty much blown away by image quality

and to top that up, RF 24-105 STM is the one and only lens you will need for a while to explore this camera's abilities

it does everything, it's small light and sharp

        • Yeah, I love my Fujis for shooting direct to JPG with the different sims (including customs). The grain is also great (I often shoot at higher ISOs with an ND filter to get the effect I'm chasing).

    • Do you like to edit photos? If no - Fuji straight out of camera JPGs are crazy good. They handle noisy really nicely. This is what I use now
      Heartily recommend Fuji

Do you like sharp but lifeless? Canon (used a 1000d then an 80d)
Do you like sharp and saturated? Sony

Do you want small but flawed (and cheap) - m43

Full frame is only a big deal if you want blown out bokeh. This is a personal preference but my favourite photos are low light on a Fuji at iso3200 or above with tweaked classic chrome. Check out the Fuji lovers forums. Somehow canon and Sony are so technically good they take all the “love” out of the photo.

Hard to describe but Fuji has put the joy back in photography for me

      • probably different colour perception, I shot Fuji before, and my friend has X-T3, and the results are quite underwhelming

on Canon full frame would be quite different from 80d, I shot both. I rarely need to touch up what comes out of RP, things are good for print OOC 99% of the time

each to his own I guess. this is a neverending deja vu though because this kind of conversation is repeated every year for the past 30 odd years. first there were different fipm brands, now different cameras handle colors differently. some people prefer A some prefer B

        • Of course

Go with whatever makes you happy I would say. There’s nothing “wrong” with any camera

I’ve non professionally played with a lot of cameras. We’re so lucky today that you can jump on Instagram and see the different kinds of photos you can achieve. Then there’s going in store to feel the way it holds and if you like the manual controls.

Now the real question is how do I convince my wife that we need a Leica m10 and some summiluxes rather than a house deposit 😂

          • @firstpostbekind: I was considering Leica SL2 but the damn thing is so noisy that I got turned off from Leica for the years to come.

will try again in 5 years or so (when Canon warranty runs out)

in general I don't buy something I won't be able to resell in a year or so. if you sit on tech for too long it loses too much value

if you buy and sell in 6-12 months you know every camera body out there and don't lose much money

for example when I sell my old gear (half sold already) I will get back slightly more than I spent on RP kit on boxing day. free upgrade basically

will see how quickly RP loses value, but looking at the market I think it will still be at $1k mark a year from now, with 4 more years Canon warranty to go. easy sell

  • I posted RP kit for $1749 a few days back. works out much cheaper than just buying body and then a lens. 24-105 is amazing, and cashback for the kit is $250

    • That deal is expired? If you have a link to a similar price, I'll include it in the description here.

      • unfortunately. it was a boxing day thing looks like

  • +1

I handled R, RP, R5 and R6, and I think RP is the best consumer full frame camera available

it's light and fully capable. it's a camera you will take everywhere

R and R5 have the dumb "revolutionary" touch control that I think is useless pretty much. it's bad enough for me to discard those 2 models as an option

R6 is heavy. I kind of lost the plot of mirrorless being lighter than DSLR. RP and the RF 24-105 STM are the only Canon products that redeem the RF line for me.

sure I could opt for R6 and 24-105L, but look, image quality of RP plus 24-105 STM is not worse, so I just saved myself and hopefully someone else $$$$$

not to mention that 24-105 STM focuses 11mm from the front element in manual focus. macro sorted. plus 5 stops of IS. bingo
