Im connecting to my monitor using a Lenova Thinkpad Thunderbolt 3 dock. MBP1 (TB3) <-> Dock (TB3) & Dock (DP) <-> Monitor (DP).

I prefer to use my MacBook Pro in clamshell/close lid mode. After working fine for 3 weeks, the past couple of days the monitor only has black screen when I close the lid. Monitor works fine when I have the Macbook lid open. I've opened notes right before I closed the lid and tried typing on my bluetooth keyboard and when i open the lid again i can see that what i typed does appear so I can confirm that the Macbook did not go to sleep.

I have not idea why clamshell mode suddenly stopped working after 3 weeks but would be great if someone who experienced the same issue let me know how to fix this? Is this an issue with Xiaomi monitor or the M1 Macbook pro?

last link has a suggestion of a third party app that can help in mean time

main issue is Resolution based but widespread reports of it affecting macs in way you have described also

  I'm not running into any resolution issues at the moment. The only issue is clamshell mode not working. The app does not mention any features that will fix this issue or am I missing something. Thanks

    Keep it connected to your charger and try? Mine works if I do that otherwise it doesn’t.

    Clamshell using a TB/USB-C connection has not worked completely for some time, regardless of whether its M1 or not.
    
    I've been trying since just before COVID using a Dell docking station, and similarly to you, it worked OK for a while then stopped. There's some guidance on the following site regarding which version of this software will support it, but the Manager app definitely does not (although I haven't upgraded to 1.2 yet, but I'll test it tonight).

    Secondly, I have never managed to get a screen working via a dock using DP, only HDMI.
