  • This is not a deal. The food is too expensive to start with. I use Supercoat. 12kg would be 29.99 with discount applied. I can get 16kg for the same price at my local Woolworths when they have offers. And I do not pay as much delivery (maybe $1 in petrol as it is just around the corner).
If you make it 19.99 then that would be a deal.

I have plus'd this because we do need more Pet food deals….after looking into this I realized it wasnt a great deal. Like Gallifrey says, you can buy cheaper in Woolies as I too use Supercoat..

  • +1

Guys I think the Supercoat in Woolies is 12kg bags. They had this on lifehacker a while ago where someone said the same thing: http://www.lifehacker.com.au/2011/10/paws-for-life-schedules…

I usually buy Advance and it's about 30 bucks cheaper than my local pet store.

    • Well, the bags I buy are $15 for a 8kg bag. That makes it less than $2 per kg. The deal here (after discount) is more like $2.50 per kg.
I agree we need more pet deals but they need to be deals (hint for all pet food and accessories suppliers!). :-)
If shoutout was right, this would even make this less of a deal.
Maybe for the more expensive stuff this is a good deal but I doubt that the majority of pet owners in Australia (non-breeders) will buy 8kg bags at $100 a go.

    Hi Gallifrey,

Firstly, I think you mean you can get a 12kg bag on special perhaps? I would love to be proven wrong!
Secondly, not all Woolworths stock the larger bags for OH&S reasons. In fact, the largest bag you guy buy online at Woolworths is 8kg!
Thirdly, we actually charge NO shipping on an Auto-Delivery, and donate to animal rescues every time we ship to you. If you do purchase an 18kg bag, it saves you carrying it home.

Lastly, we don't just offer Supercoat, we offer a range of premium brands.
It also depends on what you deem 'expensive' to mean. Sure, premium foods are more expensive than low quality brands, the reason being you are buying a higher quality product. You should definitely be reading the ingredients list when comparing prices on products.

    • I know there are many brands. And yes, I buy 8kg(!) bags on special for $15. All Woolworths stores stock those. Even my little dog can eat them in about 3-4 weeks depending on how hard I exercise with him.
I understand that you might be cheaper with the more expensive brands but certainly not with Supercoat. The difference in price would be $7.50 per 12kg bag. I am a lot happier donating that to my local dog shelter or buying another 8kg for that (providing I buy 2 for myself) and donating it. At least I know that they receive it and where it is going.
With more expensive I mean your premium brands - this might be a deal for those.
I am happy with the 8kg bags - it means the food is fresher for my dog once I opened the bag (as it won't be open for as long as a 12kg bag would be). And if Woolies does not stock it for OH&S reasons I would think about why other stores do. If those OH&S reasons are legitimate I would expect a specialised pet store to be more strict on those than Woolworths. I assume they must be valid otherwise Woolies would not pass up the opportunity to make money on those products as well.

  • I buy royal canin for my german shepherd and from local store its $102.50 for a 12kg bag. (with buy 10 the same year and get one bag free)

they have it on sale for $99.95… so -$10 + shipping it comes to $96.90 delivered to my door.

I would consider setting up 'auto-delivery' if he would offer the $10 reoccuring discount.

PawsForLife - is this something you would be willing to offer?

    • Hi joshuah,

This isn't our sale price, it is our regular price.
Unfortunately we can't offer a $10 discount on every recurring order.
However, with the Auto-Delivery option, the price is still cheaper than your current provider. We are currently looking into loyalty programs but currently do not offer this. Asides from having a lower price and free shipping on Auto-Deliveries, we save you time and effort by sending direct to your house and donate to our network of animal rescue shelters.

  • I thought Innova is only available at Pet Paradise or its relatives (i.e. Pet Goods Direct), as Innova had agreement with them. Are you related to Pet Paradise then?

    • Hi YTS,

This was the case, but Innova is now available everywhere (i.e. not just at Pets Paradise). We are in no way related or affiliated with Pets Paradise, we are just able to source Innova like any other retailer can.

      • Thanks for your reply. Good to know as I was always interested in Innova but don't want to shop in PP.
The price is quite good for the brands I normally get for my pets.
Like the design of your site. One suggestion: can you add the nutrition analysis in the product page? it's very important when shopping for an overweight puppy.

  • Looked at these guys before when changing supplier for my dog food.

Prices are pretty reasonable in general for some of the super premium brands which I use / have used (particulary Artimes and Innova).

Only problem is that they don't ship to WA which I didn't notice until I was about to purchase so I had to go elsewhere

    Edit:
This is what I normally buy - http://www.pawsforlife.com.au/product/artemis-fresh-mix-maxi…

Even without the discount they are at least $10 cheaper than almost everywhere else (excluding 1 other place with a matching price but more expensive shipping). I am sure there may be others but this is a good bargain anyway.

    • Hi Baa,

We are looking into expanding our shipping areas so hopefully we are able to bring great priced premium dog food to more people in the near future.

  • What's the better brand: Royal Canin vs Artemis vs Eukanuba (puppy currently on that for a few months)?

Can I switch the food straight away or do I have to gradually change over?

    • You need to gradually change over dog foods - if you dont, your dog will have bad stools.

I suggest over 1-2 weeks changing it over, starting with 70% old food 30% new food and every two days, move it down 10% to eventually your giving your dog new food and not old food anymore.

  • i think it is a fair price (not a great one), i can get an Artemis 13kg bag with $105.9 from other online supplier with free shipping.
    $99.95 + $6.95 does not sound attractive.
With the $10 coupon, I might just try once tho.

btw, when the coupon expires? coz i just brought a big bag last week. @@

  • For convenience and competitiveness of the boutique brands this deserves a +1
