The new version Casio PLUS II is not really different, so very cheap calculator for school. I have used a lot of different calculators and pretty much the same in this category. This actually one of the better ones, so no brainer for those in need. Cheers

        aww i wanted a peanut

  • Price online shows $20 (save $9), not sure if the in-store price is $5

    • It's $5 online for me for the 🦄.

      • OK, just put in Post Code of nearest BigW to home and the price changed to $5, my bad!

The new version Casio PLUS II is not really different,

Has Boolean functions which is pretty much useless and lower quartile, median and upper quartile for single variable stats (usually handy for Standard students).

      English please

      • +40

If you don't understand what they are, then you probably won't find those functions useful.

      • +10

More useful in Maths than in English

      • -6

        Math, actually.

    • Most suitable for Statistics courses?

      • For secondary courses yes. For tertiary it'll just be adequate.

    • Definitely get the PLUS II if possible - all levels of HSC maths can benefit from these in stat mode, especially Standard and Extension 1.

  • Says $5 online for me. Genuinely interested to see if I could find stock I spotchecked random postcodes and only found Geelong and Morwell shows "in stock".

    • Are you wanting any help to purchase this? I just put in 6 as quantity and it appears my store has this amount.

Hey, thanks for the offer but actually already have this and can recommend it :)
Was just curious if any stores around had stock.

  • I still have my equivalent TI model from my uni days… so you know it’s about 15 years old and still going strong.
At the time TI offered a few basic memory options but nothing to make it count as programmable and this be banned from math tests.

Either way can’t go wrong for $5

    • In the late 90s, the TI-83 was the caculator used by 99% of students (at least at my school). Cost well over $100 at the time. I remember some people in my class managed to hack it and get it to play games.

  • Can't see any stock in WA, would love to pick up some.

    • No stock in Tas.

  • +1

Note this model can't do phasor operations, would 100% recommend ponying up/ waiting for for the fx-100 plus if you use/ will run into those. Will save a good chunk of time

  • -4

    There's an app for that.

    • +3

      Not for school tests

  • I remember using this in school. Survived everything. Can recommend. Steal at $5.

    • $15?

    • +2

God what is it with wa? do they buy all the stock up or dont we ever get stock this one shows up at $5 for me other does not but no stock showing online.

      • Stock comes into the Eastern States and gets distributed to those stores (say 1000 units per store). They ship what's left to WA, where they divvy up what's there (so often get 20 or 30 of something they may have advertised on the front page of a catalogue, so they sell out within minutes). Big-W, Kmart, Target all operate the same way, I've been told by WA managers of various stores this is how they operate. If you care, you can kick up a stink about catalogue deals that never reach us by complaining to their head office and threatening a referral to the ACCC for bait advertising (which is illegal). They will offer you some store credit or something, but you are unlikely to ever actually see the item you were after. Frankly it's a heck of a lot of effort for what you get out of it - I've gone through it a few times out of principle, but it wears you down (and they know it).

Basically being in WA we get the $#!% end of the stick, and there's nothing we can do about it. Secession anyone?

        • Talking of which an item kmart had for black friday was 129 is now on there site at 69. I complained and said this was remaining stock they wanted to sell off to allow for xmas stocks.
So kick in the teeth to us who purchased item on black friday for full price, which i beleive was either an inflated price or cost much more than this orginally.
But certainly annoys me they show it half the price online not available obviously and paid double price then.

Yep many of time i been after deals on here but wa never had any when over east has.

  • I remember buying one of these for $30 like 10 years ago, best calculator I've ever had.

    • I've used these calculators since 2015 and they have yet to disappoint easily the best I've ever used

      • In high school there was always racing going on in the lower forms as to who could do 1852309x2 or 9668103x6 the fastest (do the calcs if you're confused).

Used this towards end of high school and throughout university. Great calculator.

The new version Casio PLUS II is not really different

Lol, did they hire ex Nintendo employees for the naming scheme? Soon it will be like New Casio FX82AU-Plus III XL Deluxe.

Any1 get one… or just no stock?

Yes, our apples at 5c too when we ain’t got any.

  • I remember having games on mine

  • Wow. This brings back memories

  • +3

My high school teacher always said “you should learn how to calculate on your own, because once you leave school, you won’t have a calculator in your pocket”.

For the low low price of $5, I can order one of these on my iPhone and prove that bastard wrong.

    • We were all taught this lie.i wonder if it's in the curriculum

    • -1

Did they say this before calculators were actually able to fit in your pocket?

  • +1

Legit question: I want to learn to use a calculator to its full potential. Are there any resources online to do that ?

  • No graphing function? When I was in year 12 (1999) we needed a graphing calculator - the TI-83 was the chosen option for 99%, a few students used other brands.

    • Graphing/programmable calcs were still banned for the HSC in '99?

      • -1

HSC was discontinued in 1992. We had VCE. And re-read my comment - I didn't say anything about them being banned. I said that they were required.

        • +1

Yeah and I am saying there were banned. But for NSW HSC in '99. You never said it was for VCE. But ok.

          • @CVonC: I mis-read your comment, or rather, I read it as if it were a question.
