Seems like all jeans these days are for people with chicken legs. Pockets are useless as they are so tight. I like wearing them for gardening but I split a pair just bloody bending over. So where do people get jeans that are loose fit and cheap? Getting them couple size larger doesn't really help and annoying around the waist

+1 for uniqlo.
Have you considered track pants?
Garden in your birthday suit. Be one with nature. I find that the most comfortable.
And please don’t post a MS Paint pictures of it here. Wouldn’t be able to unsee once seen 😂
Mavi and Calvin Klein are the most comfortable jeans you can get. They have 2% spandex in them and pockets are all a good size. Can be bought dirt cheap on sale too, I average around ~$30 a pair.
May I ask where is your go to for Mavi sales?
David Jones and TK Maxx, Amazon has some good deals too.
Op shop :)
Gardening in jeans?
Harris Scarf have their own store brand jeans, often on 25% off special.
There's a choice of leg length also.
They don't make a fashion statement but are comfortable and reasonably long lasting.
If you're buying a couple of sizes larger and splitting them you're perhaps not being honest with yourself about your actual size. That said look for ones that are described as boot cut, loose cut, comfort cut etc. Cheap jeans that you're going to garden in (why not shorts?) Big W, Target, K Mart etc you should be able to get pairs under $20 but don't expect them to be great quality material. Same places will also have tradie style work wear which might be cheaper and/or better wearing.
I split a pair just bloody bending over.
Hmm.
Get some workwear with knee pads.
https://www.bigw.com.au/product/tradie-men-s-flex-cargo-pant…If you don't want tight jeans, look for "regular" or "relaxed" fit, most brands will label them (e.g. Uniqlo) otherwise just ask the sales assistant.
buy them a size bigger than your usual size, the fashion industry often misrepresents a size to flatter ppl (often ladies) about their size, e.g: many will say a genuine size 14 is a size 12, if you are a size 16 you've bought something too tight?
Kmart and target for terribly fitting jeans!
Go to a workwear store such as where tradies shop for their work clothes
To jump onto this thread - almost all jeans I see are either slim or skinny, have loads of 'stretch' in them, or are very thin! Where are the well made, semi stylish, long lasting jeans for young dad's at!JAG used to be decent back in the day. Uniqlo are decent but pretty light/thin - I find the knees develop hopes pretty quickly. Anyone got some suggestions?
How's the return process if the fit is no good?
Edit - looks like returns are easy but you need to pay (NSW postage)Free returns if you pay with Paypal.
@Hybroid: Really? Didn't know that! Will have to investigate how that works further….is there a limit per year or something? Just wondering if you are better off order 10 pairs (5 styles, 2 sizes each) and then doing a bulk return of whatever you don't want. Thanks for the info
@JuryWheel: Yep, outlined in their returns policy: https://www.next.com.au/en/faqs#returnskeyinformation
Sizing is on point so being 36R it fits perfectly. You may want to get a 36 and 38 for example and return as appropriate.
Get a couple of chinos as well. They're very comfortable and great for daily everyday wear, especially here.
@Hybroid: Is this all next branded stuff do you mean? (I see they stock other brands too)
@JuryWheel: Yea Next branded stuff is great. They're on every high street in the UK and a staple.
Thanks for the great suggestion.
Ordered 6 April, shipped from the UK 7 April.
Have them 12 April. Amazing.
Great fit, no returns needed!
No worries! I hope you enjoy them.
Try uniqlo
They have different category of jeans depending how tight or baggy you like them. And the best part… They're stretchy jeans so they're much more comfortable
