Hi just wondering views on how best to negotiate on discontinued items and what any tactics - price to accept etc. at Bunnings.
This query is based on a couple of purchases:
Desalt blower - from about $250 to $90.
Gerni - went in today just to take a look at the new Gerni range. I noticed they didn’t have the new 7300 with 2320 PSI one which is RRP $599 but then noticed that at the back of the aisle they had the 160.2 one from the previous line (discontinued earlier this year) that is 2320 PSI. There was no price on it so I enquired and the guy said $479 but then I said it was an older, discontinued model etc. After a bit of a chat including some haggling on both sides Eg originally the dude said $400 but come back tomorrow and manager may be able to get a better price etc. with the current guy at front not able to give a good price. Told them their manager would be happy if they could move out old stock which had been sitting there a while etc. Oddly enough guy at front walked past and said he would do it for around half price. I told them $200 and they’ve got a deal and they said deal… so I walked out with a 2320 psi gerni that I originally had no intention of buying - do have a few uses though.
Just seeing if anyone else had much experience with negotiating / haggling at Bunnings.
I'm buying a new car soon, what are your rates? XD
