Vs.

One is 65 with better specs, the other is 5" bigger, $100 cheaper but lesser quality panel.

I can't decide which hisense TV to buy?!

TL:DR - if you’re not super fussy about the picture quality, and you’re looking for a big screen the S5 would be fine IMO. If you’re sitting fairly close, and want a moderately better picture quality go for the Q7. But either would be okay for most run of the mill TV watching IMO.

How far away are you from the tellie? If you’re a ways away then a bigger screen is always better.

The Q7 will be a better picture, mainly just because it uses a full-array backlight system, and the colour presentation will be a bit better with quantum dot. But, Hisense hasn’t perfected their software yet so you’ll find that you still probably get some blooming, and some artefacts with the interpolation and such. If you can, go into a store and see the difference between a 65” and a 70”.

If you’re not overly fussy about picture quality, or the potential of light bleed, and just want a big screen the 70” would be okay too.

Honestly most TV’s these days are going to be pretty good if you’re not fussy. But most people who are pedantic are going to be looking at high end OLED’s or Samsung’s anyway.

I mean, you’d probably find most people wouldn’t really notice a massive difference in performance between the s5 and q7.

    Hope that helps.

  • What about the Series 8 2020 TVs on sale at JB? How do they fit into the model line-up?

  • I have pondering this question myself and decided to go the q7. Only because I like to sit closer to the TV.

    • Yeh I'm leaning that way too. Also any potential artifacts or dips in picture quality while viewing are gonna be amplified by a bigger screen.

I got the 70s5 a couple of weeks ago and have been very happy with it. The software is probably the biggest difference between the two models, but a google chromecast home (for under $100) was a solid investment regardless of model and is exceptional at bringing together all our streaming services. All for under $1000 complements of some Him discount cards from Coles a bit over a month ago.

  • I viewed both today, I still can't decide whether I'd rather save the hundred or get the better panel but I'm leaning towards the q7.

Thanks people, sorry I forgot to reply!

    • Good luck. I got my q7 set up today. Very happy.
I have come from a 10 year old HD pana plasma so I'm probably to easily pleased.
It will take a week to see what I really think.

      • I had a 1st gen smart os Samsung plasma I got in 2012 for the London Olympics. It mysteriously died in 2017, just went pop and switched off. Samsung wanted me to pay hundreds to bring in it to get fixed and that wasn't guaranteed to mend it so I turfed it.

I'd hope this next TV lasts me at least 5 years.
