Apple 13-inch MacBook Air M1 7-Core GPU 8GB 256GB $1435 (C&C) @ Mwave

580

Even cheaper than the other deals today and yes only by a few dollars.

I’m really posting this so you can walk into OW (if you can find stock) and look that smug salesperson in the eye and get them to beat it by 5%. The pay with zip, etc etc to really Ozbargain it to the next level.

Have stock of silver and gold only.

This is part of Boxing Day Sales for 2020

  • not sure you can price beat online store @OW

    • +3

      Indeed you can

      “ What about online stores?

Our Price Beat Guarantee includes products you find online - as long as the item is identical and in stock. When assessing the PBG from online stores we also take into account the added cost of delivery to your location (if any). If the identical, in stock product can be purchased and delivered to your location via an online store for a total price lower than the one we are offering, we will beat that total price by 5%.”

They will factor in price for delivery, if store is not local to mwave.

Just got it in store at office works for $1363.25. They didn’t have it in stock but have ordered it with free home delivery.

I’m in Sydney metro so YMMV.

Regarding the description of the OW people, while some might be "smug", that doesn't fit with my general experience. In-store sales folk get a pretty hard time from some customers (notably those who lack manners). Let's show a bit more kindness!

Very true, no room for rudeness.

Most are great but my last price beat experience the staff member begrudgingly meet the price after making me feel like some sort of criminal for asking for it.

Fair to say it works both ways.

Having worked in retail myself for over 10 years, and now being well away from it for the last 6. I see both sides. You get some shocking customers who feel really entitled and want everything for nothing and then the other end of the spectrum, amazing customers who make your day and you go out of your way to help them. Having said that, I worked with some real scummy salespeople who had no morals, I like to think I was the good ones who was always honest about products and put commission etc second to customer service and honesty.

      • That's true too. I guess my strategy as a customer in those cases is to be "pleasant but persistent", and to remember "it's not me, it's their attitude that is the problem, and I'm unlikely to change it in 5 mins".

    • The majority of my in store price best requests at OW have been rejected for invalid reasons. Each time it was rejected, I'd call OW customer service and do it over the phone and collect in store. The last time J tried in store, the Manager kept saying the retailer only stocks grey imports despite being an authorised seller. Called OW Customer service who had no issues beating it. When I collected it in store, I told the manager OW customer service had no issue beating it and he simply said "thanks for your feedback."

      • He would have rejected it to feel powerful I reckon.

      • I used to work at Officeworks. I can say from experience that some team members would deny price matches sometimes for silly reasons but in terms of the customer service office, most the time they would just do what the customer wanted because it rarely implicated them because most things had to be dealt with in store. I can tell you that the customer service centre caused many headaches for us in store telling customers we could do things we physically couldn't.

  • Uni students can get it via UNiDAYS 11% off @ $1411

Yeah but point is you can get an additional 10% off paying by Zip Pay brining the total down to $1,223.

      • Isn't it max $30 discount with zip Pay?

        • +1

Just tell them you want to do four separate transactions. Eazy.

      • How do you get the 10% off with Zip Pay? Thanks

      • You didn’t read T&C, did you?

      • $1435 * 0.9 = $1291.50?

  • +3

Yes if only it were that simple - with Zip t&c maximum is $300 per transaction if you want the $30.

So you have to pay in lots of $300 on zip eg tap 3x$300 would get you $90 of $900 (which I did and paid the balance with gift cards I previously purchased with zip at 10% off) as my limit on zip is $1k.

Normal humans would find this annoying but true OZbargainer would just do it.

    • If your limit is $1k, you could stand there and just pay off the balance through the app and keep going.

  • $1439 at The Good Guys plus I can get 5% off eGift cards with them via Reward Gateway ($1,367.05)

Love your OW reference. Not sure why some staff feel so offended by a price beat. It's almost as if they were a franchise and owned the store.

    • +2

i always want to know as well, it is not their money anyway

      • +3

Yeah it's stupid. If they were smart about it they would be saying no problem / that's a great deal you're getting and you'd walk away feeling good about the purchase and have more brand loyalty to OW. Which in turn means more stationery/misc office supply purchases down the track.

  • It's $1439 in OW now, can I still get the price beat guys?

    • I got it for $1363.25. See comments above.

  • Can we increase RAM to 16 gb
    later?

    • No. It’s integrated ram with the cpu. If your a user of Adobe suite , particularly video editing you will get a boost from 16gb but otherwise, no 8gb is enough.

    • I think April/May 2021 will be M1X with 12 cores/6big 6little & 16gb and 32gb on the new 14’ & 16’ pro’s. also with micro led screen (maybe touch) and 4 thunderbolt ports.

The current M1 is for students and websurfing. It will be good for years at this! Also expect a price bump for new spected stuff, being apple! All this money printing, apples just going to soak it up

  • i've got one of these and love it!

  • This is in stock and I was able to successfully price beat with officeworks over the phone.
