3600-3060Ti-BD3600-3070-BD5800X-3080-BD

Season's greetings to all. 3 big deals for Boxing Day 2020:

Not only are we under the various PCPP pricing for each, you can also effectively get a further $150 off the first two systems (effectively $1498 and $1698) as they are officially included in MSI's AU Powered BY MSI promotion, where in buying a prebuilt PC with an MSI Case, GPU and motherboard you can claim a $150 eGift Card via redemption from MSI! Instructions are on the MSI website, but once you receive your paper invoice along with your system, you can submit it to them along with the serial number (read off your GPU) to claim the gift card. If we don't show up on the list of vendors yet, don't worry, we are locked in.

There are relatively fewer upgrade options available due to either supply, or upgrades that would disqualify the system from the promotion. If it's not listed on the site, it's not an option for these deals. Note: Adding a liquid cooler to these builds does NOT entitle you to the $250 gift card, because we are not using MSI coolers.

You'll see the landing page has a different code - use these ones below which are exclusive to OzBargainers.

Build times: We have worked directly with MSI and their distributors who have confirmed the stock for these deals to come in throughout January, so the onus is on them as much as it is us to deliver on time. We are also expecting and prepared for a large number of orders for all of these systems, so the expected shipping times are from the middle of January onwards and therefore may exceed the regular estimated 14 business days. Our website states this, and you are acknowledging this by purchasing these deals.

Existing orders: We're currently working through the finalising the remaining:

  • RTX 3080 [Pre-Order] GPU system orders placed in November and December
  • BF/CM RX 5700 XT and RTX 3070 deal orders
which will have absolute priority once assembly resumes on Tuesday 29th December. We are only not working on public holidays; otherwise it is full speed ahead. Customer Support will be attending to email support full time from Monday, so please bear with us during this period.

Pretty sure that covers it! Cheers

Luke

Need to clarify a point that has been confirmed by MSI - only specific qualifying systems such as this one where it is stated on the product itself, qualify for the Powered By MSI promotion, not every system we've sold during the promotion period that happens to have three MSI components.

  • +13

    Merry Christmas Luke.

    • +8

      Thanks, you too!

      • Great deals, thanks. I thought I could finally upgrade my sandybridge desktop PC when i saw #3. (I've been laptop focused for a few cycles).

I've waited this long though so I really can't justify missing out on a 5900/x. Do you have any idea when they will trickle into the country and appear in your systems?

Alternatively would it be possible (and in your oppinion worth it) to buy #3 without a cpu and windows license assuming that one is included?

        Cheers!

        • All systems come without a license but with windows preinstalled

        • The news isn't great as an overall standpoint but we are working on it! We can't remove specific components like CPUs (or anything else that is standard) as we stress test the complete system before dispatch. You could order it unassembled and on-sell the 5800X perhaps, and get a 5900X when you can find one.

          • @luketechfast: That's understandable. Do you consider systems you've recently sold (such as the 5600x range from November) to have passed your QA or do you only focus on the current builds, keep the range fairly small and limit customization so you can be more thorough?

I was a bit worried that I'd have to replace the mainboard too but from what you've said they have been reliable with ryzen 5000 series chips and will support the feature of the chips completely.

Also that promos is pretty great so I need to sk why the first two use msi cooling or #3 use an msi case and cooler? Supply seem to be the answer to most questions in this thread, but seeing as 3 uses a non msi case and cooler is it actually performance related?

Thanks as always for spending your boxing day with us here!

            • @xentar: Not sure I fully understand about passing QA, but all systems are stress tested before dispatch so need to be complete. The third deal is excluded because MSI can't get us any 3080s at the moment. We have different coolers on hand so don't need to order any from MSI to use their coolers. There is no difference performance wise between the various cases I'm aware of, some may prefer the MSI as it appears to be easier to add your own drives than the Lance-V, but if adding drives isn't a concern there is little difference.

    Hi Luke,
Any non-gaming Intel based workstation deals?

    • +2

Not a specialty of ours normally, but given high end AMD CPUs are mostly non existent, we can look at it. I'll speak to Ops.

      • Thank you Luke. Any luck with the Ops team?

        • +1

Public holiday today, I'm just here postin and reppin. We're back on Tuesday.

  • Gift card seems to be similar to prezzee
    https://www.giftpay.com.au/egift/infowhere.aspx?gift=CG7ZMY8…

  • To those who have bought from Techfast before, how is their warranty servicing should you ever needed one ?

    • +2

Read the forum posts. If you don't know much about the inside of PCs, consider paying for better warranty service.

    • +2

they run you through basic troubleshooting over the phone and have you send pictures and or video but typically look at 1-3 day response times..Im based in gold coast so thats why suppprt was like that.

i have purchased a few things off them but i probably wont again its just too nuch of a headache dealing witb interstate companies (techfadt are amazing if you are closer to them)

    • +3

Bewar of the delivery. There will be no update once you've made the payment.

      • This is quite false, if you simply email them about the build/delivery they'll give you an update.

  • Did I get punished for buying too early on the other deal…

    • +2

Isn't that the normal way things work? They generally get cheaper with time and reduced demand.

      • +1

ahahahha yea…But hey the difference is only $100. Well assuming that all past buyers also get the 150 gift card as well. Otherwise its a loss of 250. Either way rip me. :)

    • +11

Which deal? If you used a lower code for the same product we can always refund the difference manually.

  • @luke i believe you have a typo for the amount 1648 after 3600-3070-BD

    • You're right, fixed thanks.

  • No option for 32 Gb?

    • 32GB RAM? The option is there on all three systems yep.

      • what about 64gb?

  • Is there a huge difference between the 3600 and 3700 , just comparing number 2 with the boxing day deal which was similar but came with the 3700.

    • +1

Yes about $200 in value of CPU 3700x over the 3600 and additional cores, Clock speed etc. 3700x is a much better CPU.

  • +5

Just want to thank @luketechfast and team. Ordered one of the budget TechFast builds in Nov. Son opened it yesterday and has been thrilled!!! Thank you so much for a great pricing and amazing build (doesn't feel budget at all).

    • +2

Lucky you. I ordered Nov, still not dispatched.

      • -1

        Won't be far away!

        • +1

    • Good stuff!

  • +1

Hey, loving the deal so far and deciding between purchasing the 3060 or 3070 variant. i did have a few questions regarding the prices of the 1tb NVME m.2 between the units. With the 3060 it costs 159 compared to the 3070 where it costs 129. Was there any reason for this as in different specs? Thanks

    • +1

The 3060 system comes with a 240 standard, the 3070 system a 480. So the price is different to go up to 1TB NVME.

  • +1

Should we wait until intel makes a M1 chip clone?

    • +3

If Intel goes the M1 route forget about custom builds and upgrading. They will be SOCs with fixed RAM etc.

      • As someone who just got an M1 Mac, I'm really looking forward to seeing how more gaming-focused manufacturers react. The speed/battery efficiency is honestly insane. I'm rendering video faster than my $3000 desktop, on a MacBook Air. When this build style gets applied to gaming, I'm in.

        • +1

This is a good read on the SOC comparison between Intel and Apple and one of the contributing reasons why M1 is faster while using less power.

          https://om.co/2020/11/17/is-it-time-to-soc-the-cpu/

        • Rendering video faster on an M1 than a $3000 desktop? I'd say a $3K desktop would have a 3080 gpu, possibly even a 3090 if the focus was only on encoding.
So your saying a mac book air renders faster than a 3080? Genuinely interested in this claim, please post something to show this, links? Benchmarks?
          Cheers

          • -1

@splitatom: Maybe it was a cheap $3k HP or something with celeron CPU and integrated gpu

          • @splitatom: I doubt the perf difference. This is a really great comparison video. The custom built PC trumps all the others especially the M1. However this is the M1 and on a laptop. Once the M1s turn up on Mac Pro it's going to be a different world.

            https://youtu.be/W82KrjnPaZc

          • +1

@splitatom: My $3000 desktop. It's a couple of years old. I didn't claim to have done true dollar-for-dollar testing.

        • I'm sceptical of ARM penetrating the (Windows) desktop market any time soon. Windows' emulation performance is a big hurdle and is only one such hurdle. Maybe the next (non-"half step") consoles will take on ARM because power usage is important there as it is with mobile computers.

As merrill says, there are also big implications for the DIY PC space if desktops move to ARM SOCs. I'm not sure how much of the efficiency is due to being SOC based, though. But it seems likely Intel and AMDs ARM offerings will be SOCs too.

  • Is this considered a good deal?

    • The middle one with the 3070 is a pretty good deal. The others aren't particularly compelling.

      • What would be price if building yourself? Is this cheaper or more expensive?

        • +1

Assuming you're buying individual parts at RRP and not waiting for sales, it's about the same price as building yourself ($1800-1850). All of this is pre-shipping, of course.

      • I don’t think so. The 3070 deal in BF is better than Boxing Day. BF: 3700x+3070=$1688, BD: 3600+3070=$1848 (+$150 gift card)=$1698
If you sell the e-card, perhaps it will be only about $120. So it’s actually $1728 for worse CPU and 3070, compared with BF deal, not really worth it.

I think the 5800x+3080 is not bad deal. It’s similar as previous price in Nov (5600x+3080 upgrades to 5800x and 240 cooler), but no 5600x provided.

      • Considering limited stock for 3080 now, you would buy a 3080 card over $1500 at least (overpriced than RRP). The third one will be a good deal. But if it is a MSI 3080 and a MSI case, it would be better.

    • +7

      Not really:
I am looking at the 3070 deal, So lets look at the retail pricing:
      AMD Ryzen 5 3600 = $316 - $320
      MSI B450M Mortar Motherboard = $135 - $145
      16GB DDR4 [3200MHz] 2 x 8GB = $99 (Kingston HyperX Fury 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Deal ATM)
      480GB 2.5" SSD = $68 (no brand given so I picked the Kingston A400)
      Gigabyte P650B 650W 80+ Bronze Power Supply = $80 (Centrecom)
Case MSI MAG FORGE 100R = $79 (Centrecom)

      system Without GPU = $781

      GPU:
      MSI RTX 3070 8GB Graphics Card = $949 (Centrecom)

      system With GPU = $1730

      Techfast price=$1848 - $150 = $1698 (considered the wait time)

So if you are being lazy and don't want to DIY, you can go for it, but if considering the wait time and far better DIY options(you will probably find a better deal on the individual part) I will suggest skipping this offer.

      but of course just IMHO

      • -3

        It's 1698-150

        • +1

Not sure if I have missed anything
          $2048 -> Code -> $1848 -> redeem MSI gift card($150) -> $1698

where is the other $150 from?

      • By the way, you can get MSI e-card tho you DIY your pc with MSI parts. You could even get a $250 card with a MSI liquid cooler.

  • -1

    pretty sweet deal

    • What would be price if building yourself? Is this cheaper or more expensive?

      • -2

If you purchase all the parts separately, it will be a lot more expensive.

I have upgraded various parts from my PC over the past few months. Looking back it would have been much better if I just bought one of these PCs.

  • +1

    This or 2k for a Hp, rtx2080ti, i7 9th gen. 32gb 2666ram. Generic hp 500wpsu. + Basic HO mobo.
I've got the above for 2k sitting in my cart from HP. Should I get that or just buy the rtx3070 ryzen5 from this deal with no further upgrades.

Which one would give me more bang for my buck, and how do they compare when it comes to 1440p gaming.

Thank you for the feedback, I'm pretty new to gaming.

    • Can you provide a link to which HP comp you are talking about?

  • +5

Thought boxing day be cheaper then black friday since 3070 release hype is over :(

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/585050

    • Ya I saw that and so I thought this isn't too great of a deal.

      • +1

Every new deal feels like it's getting more expensive each time.
        Maybe wait until February/March instead.

    • +2

I think this deal is better because of the processor. Wish we could get it again
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/585692

  • Hey Luke, whats the estimation on shipping?

    • It's buried in the long deal post - dispatch should be starting from mid-Jan onwards.

  • +4

Brought on black Friday, accepted delivery on 24th.
Only complaint is the wiring isn't done well inside. They didn't tie it together as expected from a pro shop. Stuffed it all into empty HD space.

  • is the 3070 build enough for 1440p 144hz gaming and a little future proof?

  • +2

A wishful thinking but.. will there be comparable Intel deals soon with RTX 3080 or 6800xt (and preferably under $2300)?

    • Not enough GPUs of either just yet.

  • Hey Luke, great deals! Just wondering which model is the motherboard option with wifi for the 5800x system?

    • +1

We've been using Asus Tuf WiFi and Gigabyte Aorus Elite WiFi mostly, so those boards or equivalent should continue.

      • Thanks Luke, just ordered. Cheers!

  • Is all 3200 MHz ram CL16?

    • And WTB 3600 mhz ram :(

    • Yep

      • Upgrade from 16G to 32G RAM is only $99 but very high with 64GB, why? Can I buy 32 now and add 32 more later on my own ?

        • +1

of course, but it should all match to guarantee it works.

ryzen 2/3 work best with all 4 dimm slots used and minimum 3200 MHz CL16 but can make use of 3600MHz.

so 4x8gb sticks (32GB) or 4x16GB (64GB) but 64 is very much overkill for the products offered and almost all use cases.

          • @abuch47: VMs all the way down

            • @xentar: VMs for Adobe creative cloud products too?

          • @abuch47: Ok. I use After Effects and 64GB RAM and tends to gobble all ram for preveiw which helps. Hence asked. Would be good to start with 32 then n will buy 32 later to upgrade

            • +1

@archieduh: to be perfectly honest I'd Like to go with 48 because 64GB shouldnt be needed and would most likely be due to leaving alot open that in most cases shouldn't be and I have a tab problem that floats between 8 and 16 after 2 or 3 days.

The main thing holding me back from going 8-16-8-16 3600 cl16 for ram is because people often say that all your ram should match and I dont have the knowledge and haven't gone out of my way to get it to dispute that. I remember buying tripple channel memory for a phenon II (Not actually sure if it received the benefit but I needed the ram and it cost the same).

I had a quick look and if the wiki page for dual channel is up to date then its basically just threadripper and a bunch of intel cpus that do it now.

  • Any feedback on the Galax 3080 SG regarding noise and cooling vs other 3080 cards? Is this a "cheap" option, mid range, or top notch?

    • IMO it's a great card. Better than the entry level offerings from Gigabyte and MSI cooling and aesthetics wise.

  • These guys are great. Bought a system earlier this year and all these deals are making me want another one! Unfortunately don't have any reason to upgrade though… Unless someone wants to buy my current🤣

  • +1

Just be aware of the delivery. Suggest read the comment before your purchase. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/582696?page=2#comment

    • Yes read through a few of older deal threads. The wait can drive people bananas (including myself)

To be honest I've did some quick head maths and these parts look same price as building yourself and you will have your PC much sooner.

However otherwise if you can wait and don't want the hassle, they do a decent job with the build.

      • +2

Cannot agree with you about decent. But I blame myself for choose thchfast not anyone else.
