eBay is a huge disappointment this year for Boxing Day. No sales at all. Bought some ebay gift cards using zip pay last Saturday but can't utilise them this time.

    • :/ 10% off is something still…

  • +12

@gotyourback Shopback still hasnt tracked my last eBay purchase made earlier in the week. $2 back on $3 spend, that one

    • +1

Yep I had to chase up my Black Friday eBay purchase, and my Cyber Monday one wasn't honoured.. bit of a gamble with Shopback and eBay.

      • +14

Shopback has this dirty habit of ignoring cashback to customers unless they file claim for it, and even after claim, they reject it and somehow approve it within a few days after rejection, suddenly out of nowhere.

        • +12

I agree with that too. Have to get pretty old Debra to activate cash back. I wonder how much $$$ they make from unclaimed feedback.

Another dodgy bit is they show cash back tracked but it always shows as $0. This way you can’t claim missing cash back and then once time period expires the amount just ends up being zero.

I just smell dishonest business practice here. Happy to be corrected.

          • +1

@Going Broke: Correction: I meant “I wonder how much $$$ they make from unclaimed cash back or tracked cash back which appears as $0 in account”.

          • +1

@Going Broke: report to ACCC. If it is a scam it is a scam!

          • @Going Broke:

Another dodgy bit is they show cash back tracked but it always shows as $0

Wow! They used to pull this stunt last year, and so I stopped using them as their claims process is absolutely horrendous.
Looks like they haven't changed at all.

    • Mines tracked, pending… might be worth hitting their support up. GL

      • +2

        An hour not tracked

        • Tracked After 18 hours, nearly missed the deal

    • +1

Tracked fine for me as usual.

      • +1

Are you referring to tracking for this order or the previous orders? It hasn't tracked cashback for this order in my case yet though the click has been tracked (which is a less trouble part).

  • Appears targeted? I can’t see it.

    • +1

Go into the earn more section of the app, it was there for me.

      • Yeah I was, just restarted my device and it’s there, refresh wasn’t showing it. Cheers.

    • Dupe.

    • Yeah. Not on my account either.
Check my earn more section too

Edit: oh yeah refreshed and see it too hahap

      • I had to restart my device to get it show up in mine.

  • +7

eBay probably hit their sales KPIs for the quarter. So no need for boxing day sales.

  • +15

Thanks DB - added to Bonus cashback master thread for tracking purposes

  • +3

Is this stack with any code?

  • Once we have joined thw challenge, can you make any time without missing out?
Secondly can we use SB app + ebay App for purchase?

    • No. Purchase must be today.

      • SorryI meant anytime today? And can we use App?

        • +1

My last ebay app purchase wasnt tracked If that gives you any suggestion to use desktop

          • +1

@USER DC: Yup. I have had issues with SB app launching the ebay app and tracking. Poor integration.

  • +2

Do we need to complete purchase via SB and eBay mobile app? Or purchasing via desktop would work after activating challenge?

    • +1

I'm also wondering, when I click from the SB app it goes to Ebay website, then when I click on the user it opens up ebay app

    • Don't risk it. Just use the SB app for the whole process. From what I've read in the past about SB, don't stray from the path

      • So, this promo requires signing into eBay and PayPal from within the ShopBack app?

        • That's what I did. Not sure if it's a requirement but I figured there's less likely for something not to get tracked if its
          done that way

      • +1

I can’t figure out how to stop the SB app opening the eBay app. Any pointers would be much appreciated.

        • It’s fine to do so.

        • Same issue here. As soon as I click on an item it opens a screen to send me to the eBay app.

        • +2

If you're on Android, go to app settings, eBay, open by default

          • +1

            @CVonC: Thanks.That works for me.
            Just made a purchase.

            • @newsanzang: what does that do?

              • +1

@capslock janitor: For Android phones, there's a setting that controls whether the app can be used to open certain links by default.
You can turn off that setting for eBay app. So that it will not automatically open the product link when you use shopback app.

    • +1

I think you can purchase via desktop. You only need to activate the challenge on the shopback app.

      • +1

        Can anyone confirm this?

    • +2

Just activate in app. Then buy using desktop. Doing this since black friday promos.

  • +1

Thanks OP. Bought a gold pan… not sure why, but it will practically be free if the cashback works.

  • +1

Wonder if this works with the take10off code for paying by credit card ?

    • +2

it would not because "take10off" is not giftcard

      • oh shame, read this comment too late.

        • Don't worry just make another purchase. That second one should be eligible.

    • +1

No, but i would still use it over cashback. $10 off at checkout is a lot more reliable than cashback.

  • +1

    OP says
Stack with any discounted ebay gift cards you have for further savings.

    Other Terms (for ebay) say
Payment using any type of voucher, giftcard or ebay credit may result in your purchase being ineligible to earn cashback.

So you can or cant use ebay gift cards?

Also once you sign up your locked in for the deal…? Or is it first 12000 to use it?

    • Payment using any type of voucher, giftcard or ebay credit may result in your purchase being ineligible to earn cashback.

      Where do you see that?

I'm looking at the website and it says:

Payment using any type of voucher or eBay credit may result in your purchase being ineligible to earn cashback

      • +6

In terms of paying by gift card, from the 'Notes' section in the eBay page on Shopback:

"As of 28th October 2019, Any purchases made with the use of Coupon / Voucher Codes are not eligible for Cashback (unless otherwise stated)… Only purchases made through eBay Australia will earn Cashback. Cashback is valid when gift cards are used as a payment method."

It seems to be that the use of "Voucher / Coupon / Promo codes" are not valid while the use of "Gift cards" are valid.

      • but ebay gift card is kind of voucher code?

        • Voucher codes are the ones that appear under your account summary's voucher section (eg. EBay plus $5 monthly voucher)

  • +27

Last challenge I did, didn't work/track. Submitted claim and it was rejected with no explanation. Shopback are dodgy so don't just buy a $10 item for the sake of it.

    • +9

      Same for me..

    • +7

I actually said once when Debra rejected with the same spiel of 'you must have clicked somewhere else blabla sorry no cb' and I said, no that's unacceptable as I have a screenshot of your browser extension saying my purchase was tracked successfully yet it didn't show up in my account and sent that SS in the reply. They credited me the cb after. Guess it wasn't too much in terms of $ (like under $4) but at the time I didn't wanna let it go based on the principle. I always take a SS now after a cb transaction and then send it to myself on FB with the date and promo.

      • Is there a browser extension for phones? I've always assumed they only had one for PCs.

Still pretty salty about a string of Black Friday purchases that all failed to track despite making fresh purchases directly through their mobile app. Short of recording a video of myself making the purchases, I'm at a loss as to how to prove purchases made on a phone.

        • +2

For phone purchases I usually take a screenshot right after I paid and try to keep it within the ShopBack app. I remember one page didn't let me take a screenshot because of privacy so I used another phone to take a picture lol! Been burnt too many times.

          • @MeesusEff: If you're using incognito mode or private browsing then that could explain why your purchases didn't track. Using private mode can stop cookies or cross site trackers from working as intended

            • +2

@JonSnow: Nah, just normal browser, no ad block on. I browse before for what I want, then click SB link and make purchase within 2 minutes.

  • Can't see any exclusions for buying an ebay gift card. Can anyone confirm?

    • +2

Can't. It's an excluded category (3rd to last point), and on the website:

Cashback Not Eligible for Gift card purchases, Charity and non-profit items, eBay Plus membership, Cars, Bikes, Boats , Coins, Real Estate, Services, Tickets, Travel

  • +1

    Whats something good to buy

    • Pirated expansion for unstable unicorns maybe.
I already have one expansion, the adventurer one. Maayyyyybe I'll get another idk.

    • Case cover for Laptop/Mobile

    • Im thinking of buying ethernet switch around $25 but a good thing to have when you run out of Ethernet ports on back of modem, when you've got so much smart stuff e.g. hue hub, Samsung smart things hub, printer, nas hdd, arlo base station, backup ethernet for pc, etc.

      • 8 port is the sweet spot for value. But I recently had to go 16 ports I wanted to reduce wireless congestion in my apartment.

    • Machine guns, Rocket launchers, Emu traps, anything you need mate.

  • +19

$10? It probably won't track with SB's dodgy record. The $5 November ones were shoddy let alone $10.
Claims got rejected despite the click history being recorded.

  • +1

once its activated can it be done via ebay app or a desk top pc?

    • +2

      Both

  • Can I buy a $10 ebay gift card?

    • Unfortunately not! Terms and conditions say gift card purchases are ineligible, amongst other categories

  • -1

uhmmm, it says here for international items. does this mean i cant buy anything from australia? has anyone got any ideas of what to buy??

    • +1

You can buy from Australia too.

      • i purchased something from AU, and then saw the "international" items.. so i cancelled my ebay order..

  • Perfect. Now need to stack with giftcards from 7/11. whoaa 1am already and there's alrdy 2.5k participants?

  • I wonder if it stacks with https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/592689

    • +1
