Kogan SmarterHome Smart 7L Desiccant Dehumidifier $127.99 + Shipping @ Kogan

120
COOLBOX

Dessicant dehumidifier more suitable for cooler climates. Usual price is $259 - $499. Introductory pre-order price was $229. Currently lowest price ever of $159.99 and using the COOLBOX code brings it down to $127.99. I bought one of these two weeks ago for $259.99 with free shipping and bought another one today.

Power consumption on low is 350W, full power 740W. Tuya app to control the dehumidifier via WIFI. Haven't tried tuya convert or flashing tasmota on it yet. Clothes dry function is a shortcut for using full power. On unit controls to set the relative humidity cut-off to 50% or 60% and the app is needed to set a range between 0 to 80%. Nice compact unit with a fan swing function. Useful if your place suffers from dampness or mould as a quick fix.

  • Looks like it uses as much power as a space heater.

    • side benefit (in winter) is that it puts out heat like a space heater too.

  • Is it good for a 4.5 X 4.5 bedroom space? or is too small for that?

    • If your room is 2 meters high then this should be perfect.

It'll work well in that space. Have the doors closed. I had the fan speed on low running overnight so that I could sleep.

    • It'll be fine.

Thanks guys! I think it's a really good price for a decent unit.

  • 350W sounds like it’s too much

The heating element is what draws most of that. It's typical for a dessicant dehumidifier of this size. I also have one of these Breville ones and it draws the same amount on the low and high settings.

The wifi "smart" component draws 7W constantly even when the dehumidifier is powered off.

      • Does it work, if you run it in your room do you wake up to a dry room when you used to wake up to a moist one?

        • Yes. It takes at least 4 hours depending on how humid it is.

          • @skid: Sweet. If this thing has a smart always on function that turns it on when it gets too humid then it might be just the ticket.

  • Just looking for one too.
    Sydney’s been so humid…

  • Thanks OP ! Got 2 !

Thank you. Needed another and these dessicant versions get pretty pricey.

Also note I got 6% saving on instant delivery Kogan gift cards via Suncorp. Shipping is costly as I’m regional, but still worth it.

  • Wouldn't this be better as it has a higher litre capacity if you don't need smart features - https://www.amazon.com.au/Goldair-DEHUMIDIFIER-Dehumidifier-…

    • That one is a compressor dehumidifier (uses a refrigerant). It's better than the desiccant dehumidifier when used in Queensland or NT.

      • Thanks Skid. I'm actually in Sydney (Penrith) where it's humid. Would the Kogan desiccant be better for me?

        • Yes, the Kogan one would be better in Sydney.

      • wouldn't a compressor one work better (or be nicer) in summer, whereas a desiccant one would be best in winter (as they neat up the space)?

        • Yes, if you could have both. Or use the air conditioner in Summer and the desiccant dehumidifier in Winter.
