Recently purchased Alcatel 3 2019 phone running Android 9 from one of the Ozbargain deals.
When I install apps/APK it's not creating a menu shortcut on the phone to launch/run the installed app.
I'm new to Android 9 so not sure what settings if any I need to check to enable this?
Worked it out. All I had to do was swipe up from the bottom of the android phone screen to reveal all the installed apps. Many that are not displayed on the screen. As I said. I am new to Android 9 and didn't know about this.
That's called your app drawer. You can actually drag apps out from the drawer itself and onto the homescreen, regroup them into folders etc.
3rd party apps can completely remove the app drawer and give you an iPhone-esque / Huawei EMUI experience where every app you install just shows on the home screen
This is usually a setting found in your preferred Launcher application.
for example in Nova Launcher, it's Nova Settings ->Home screen -> New Apps (Add icons to home screen).
