  • Thanks got 3!

    • Why on earth would a comment thanking OP be down voted?

Ozbargain logic. Someone is having a worse day than the op or the grateful respondent…

    Thanks mate. Always comes handy.

Good price for dumping isos on (the real kind) and forgetting about it till you need to fix the computer.

    • Yes good for that purpose. Dont really need anything more advanced for that.

    • also good for a virtualization hypervisor's boot drive

      • Would not use these for that lol, far too slow.

https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/aw/d/B01NARBPI7 pay a little extra if you're booting off it, it's worth it

Rebooting a hypervisor is a rare event so it doesn't bother me that much - only during system updates. But I get your point on the speed diff between USB 2 and USB 3

        • I use unraid which loads into RAM. So this would be fine.

        • I had one of these randomly die on me after a couple months, didn't even get used very much, thankfully not for anything mission critical. YMMV. Speeds were great while it lasted 🤷‍♀️ Also plugging it in was a pain because I had to keep my thumb on the slider while inserting or the data pin wouldn't connect. I wouldn't get this specific model again.

  • Cheers OP - very useful!

    abs perfect for usb installers

    • -1

Not really, any cheap USB 3.0 drive would be a much better option for a USB installer like a Windows installer, etc.
These are so slow that it would likely take around an hour to install Windows on a PC using this, any budget USB 3.0 drive would take roughly 15-20 minutes tops.

      • I only do a reinstall prob once a year max. So for me I don’t care if it takes 3 hours cause I’ll be relaxing and doing other stuff anyway like now when doing a reinstall.

      • I use these particular USB sticks for fresh windows 10 installs, it doesn't really take long to install on any modern PC with an SSD (the actual copying off the USB stick is still pretty quick, the rest of the installation doesn't use the stick at all).

  • Thx op

  • Pity the limit of 3 haha

need a top up of disposable usb drives

      • that means leaving the house :P

        • Officeworks deliver for free too with an order minimum. If you live near one they might even deliver next day. I even had same day once somehow, must have got their own driver instead of a courier.
