Pretty good price for this security system, though not quite as good as SCA deal for about $300 earlier this year.

Was $350 from Amazon during their Black Friday sale.

After holding out for a while, decided to pull the trigger.

Also, Merry Christmas to everyone!
Keep the deals coming!

No worries, glad you could score yourself a good deal. I thought the Black Friday deal would be much better to be honest, but this is pretty good

  • Or $292 after $25 cashback via Cashrewards between 9-11am tomorrow.

    • Very tempted to cancel and reorder, but this is a nice price, not sure if I’ll risk it.

Edit: looks like stock is low-ish; says in stock Jan 9 for me, but mine is due to arrive before this since I ordered it earlier this morning.
Given this, may be worth holding out for the Cashrewards 12% cashback deal tomorrow from 0900-1100, but risk of going out of stock by then.

Solid kit. Bought in May20 and got them set up on Optimal battery life mode. After the exact 6 months, both got around 25% battery left.
It really depends on the motion detection sensitivity settings and how many clips they're recording. Overall, it lasts 6months on Optimal battery life mode, without any issue.

I've been told Supercheap will have Eufy on special tomorrow

Nice, hopefully can get to sub-$300 again

  • I think it’s gone. Price reverted back to $379 for me…

Ok, serious question (not taking the piss here), do security cameras actually deter criminals? Or is the footage actually useful in cops catching them?

I can see a situation where a crim just covers their face, or the cops don’t care about your footage?

Is it for insurance? Does it make your premiums cheaper? Help a claim?

I love a gadget as much as the next guy and have been tempted by these.

    • It's not that easy to make out faces with this unless theyre close to the camera or you have an ideal situation where there's plenty of light. I bought a kit back on singles day for $242 total and wouldn't really pay any more than that, but I didn't buy it with the intention of using it for security though.

    • Great question and one that I think is answered in a kind of ratio…
eg. I'd imagine that the cameras might deter say 70-80% of scum (thieves).
BUT that it might suggest to said scum that the premises might have more… valuable goods within.

Having said that there would surely be cops who would look at the footage and even recognise subtle mannerisms such as the way they walk/run or the like despite having their faces covered. Thus they might highly suspect dirtbag 'A' or dirtbag 'Z' IYKWIM. Thankfully most cops (better cops) surely develop a kind of '6th sense' over time IMO.

      • That’s sort of my suspicion - you might get some great but useless footage of you being robbed.

I’m also skeptical that property crime is high on the list of the police investigation priorities.

        • I understand your less than favourable opinion of the police with such things. I do believe that some (thieves) are caught, but what good is it if you don't get your stuff back. It would be interesting to see what percentage of people do in fact get their stuff back. There is really only limited satisfaction in knowing the 'scum' as I put it do get caught, but then of course what punishments are effected? I'm sure some would say the 'punishments' are somewhat of a joke. And of course what percentage of them are even incarcerated? I like to put some amount of faith in the law (police) and have to imagine their numbers are too small and they are likely under resourced and ultimately underfunded.

Just a fair warning. I have both 2c and normal eufy cam. Even though they advertise 2c to have half the battery life of normal eufy cam, I'm only getting a bit more than a quarter.

    • how about the normal 2, Are you getting 1-yr for similar activities/area?

  • Ye, pretty close, i charged them when they have about 30% juice left. I think that was on the 7 to 8 months mark.
