Nope. They do it every year. Inspectors aren't working, everyone knows it… so why not turn it into a marketing exercise?

There's barely any parking on the streets anyway.. It's all fenced off for construction for light rail.. It seems most of Parramatta is now one way streets

Its a nightmare driving around parramatta now. Let alone finding street parking. That light rail project aint getting done anytime soon.

A free train, bus or ferry ticket OUT of Parramatta would be a much more appealing value proposition IMHO.
Plenty of availability away from the light rail corridor, eg streets around Parramatta Wharf, Parramatta Park and North of the river.

Im guessing this is mostly for the people who still have to go to the office in parra to work. Saving them money in parking fees.
For shoppers. They are better off parking at westfields. Free for 3 hours anyway.
I heard parra Westfield's reduced it to free 2hrs only.. Unless you download their app which gets you I think maybe 4hrs or 5hrs free?

Have you tried parking Westfields during the holidays? The queues at the NSW/QLD borders are shorter!
What are the street parking time limits around Parra in general?
Varies. Some areas are 30m, other areas up to 10h.
Only reason not to catch public transport to parramatta is due to covid. drive to parramatta then find a car space to park with limited time is a fail.
will end up spend more time going and return home and also endless effort to find this FREE parking space due to all the road close and upgrade for light rail constructions around the area.
just catch the train if to choose all time
Parramatta is not really car-friendly to start with…. free parking doesn't make it worth a visit
I’m assuming this is to try and boost retail, by getting people out of their houses, into public environments, during a global pandemic.
