  • Is fountain aussie?

    • +1

      yes

It’s no secret that Australians love and trust Fountain, a brand with rich history and heritage that spans over a century. Australia’s much loved sauce was born in 1906 when W. C. Douglass company, a Sydney based grocer wholesaler started making Fountain tomato sauce in its Goodlet Street factories in Surry Hills, NSW.

      • Purchased thanks.

        • You realise "Australian" just means you've stayed here for 5 years right?

      • +5

Generally it means people want to support Australian owned companies.

@drazenm: Agree that Fountain is usually too watery, and lacking in flavour.
I personally prefer Heinz ketchup or Masterfoods. Even the Tomato sauce from Aldi tastes better, though it is also not too thick.
Really love the Maggi Rich Tomato sauce, someone's available in Coles, or generally available in Indian Grocery stores.

          • @drazenm: If you support quality then why buy fountain in the first place? I support Australian owned companies because of patriotism but also because I know they probably have better working conditions and pay than their china or indian counterparts.

Heinz is still better. It’s more bitter and sweeter at the same time. Pretty sure the difference is just more sugar and and vinegar, but it just tastes better.

    • Chinese tomatoes.

  • Is this for dipping or for bolognese?

      • Commonly used for dipping, marinating, stir-frying or as a sauce base
      • Perfect partner for snags, burgers and chips
    • +3

      This is not for Bolognese.

    Mmm yum, bottled rusty metal.

Hm is this just as good as Heinz? Don't think i've tried this one before, would like to see some comparisons.

    • It is very thin compared to Heinz I regret getting it

    • -1

Don't get it if you like thick sauces. Heinz ketchup has good flavour and it is thick. This is watery and for me, lacks flavour.

  • -2

    20% australian ingredients…

    • Probably all the salt is Aussie.

    • -3

The phone you're whinging on is probably 0% Aussie components

    • Damn that's pretty bad if true. How did you find the country sourcing percentage?

  • +1

Skido is on a bargain posting rampage!

  • +2

    Horrible sauce

  • These are regularly $3 at Coles/Woolies. Itd the same price at Coles this week (in Vic at least)

  • Amazing…not.

  • At coles $3 as well today.

  • Any recommendations on a thick ketchup like the old Heinz in glass bottles from years gone past?

All I can find is thin sweet sweet sauce.

  • Rosella Number 1
